Top famed Italian Hip Hop Funk Library gem / worldwide Dusty Fingers legend / DJs and beat makers big-shot. Vol.1 of 3, this is the best I GRES from the series. Totally Killer LP in pristine shape!

I GRES were a studio combo only founded by Silvano Chimenti that recorded 3 studio albums. Band name brings the members initials: the "G" of organist GIORGIO CARNINI (best Italian Library organ along with Antonello Vannucchi), "R" standing for maestro ROBERTO PREGADIO (piano), "E" was the drummer ENZO RESTUCCIA (best Italian drums ever along with Tullio De Piscopo) and the "S" of the leading band man SILVANO CHIMENTI at the guitars (Italian Library and Soundtrack guitar hero). The album contains some of the very best Funky & Groovy music ever recorded in Italy filled with plenty grooves in the whole process. Hard-hitting drum Breaks and hot Hip Hop beats / Psychedelic guitars / Infamous and breathtaking B-boy grooves / Top Funky numbers and moody Progressive Funk beats / Jazzy groovers, charming Bossa and Score Easy Listening vibes. New York based D.C. LaRue has been recording and performing since 1974 but it was his track “Cathedrals” in ’76 that really got him noticed amongst the heavy weight disco releases of the time.  The double A-side 12" single of "Cathedrals" was one of the earliest commercially available 12" singles and went on to hit number 1 on the Billboard Dance Music Club and Disco Single charts.

Subsequent singles “Overture” and “Indiscreet” both topped out at number 2 on the Billboard Dance Music Club charts and “Indiscreet” became an influential track in the hip hop sampling world.

Fast forward to the present day and armed with digital transfers of the original master tapes, Z Records has commissioned remixes of these classic tracks plus “Let Them Dance” and “Do You Want The Real Thing”.

Released over two limited edition picture sleeve 12’s pressed exclusively for Record Store Day 2018, the remixes come from Idjut Boys, Ron Basejam, Dr Packer, Folamour, JKriv and Joey Negro.

For its third release, Parisian label Chuwanaga goes back to the past with the reissue of “(Where Is The) Sunshine” by Kalima, a really rare 7” originally released in 1981 and produced in Baltimore (Maryland) by African-American pianist and producer Derrick Amin. Part I on the A side and part II on the B side form a real journey, a beauty in its own style fusing jazz, soul and spirituality as well as political values. 

Back in the mid seventies Derrick Amin brought together young and talented musicians from his African-American Muslim community in Baltimore. He tells us: “all black music in America is a response to racism and slavery” and “(Where Is The) Sunshine” was their own answer, “a plaintiff query of one immerse in darkness. The darkness of lies, lies that deny the humanity, justice, and equality of people. It’s the impetus of this song”. He adds: “Kalima means « Word » or « Langage » in Arabic. The name was inspired by a quote from Imam W.D. Mohammad (the late Muslim American leader and erstwhile successor to Nation of Islam founder, Elijah Muhammad) who once said: “Words make people””.

With its splendid vocal parts - thanks to lead vocalist Sabreen Shareef, a unique major-to-minor chord progression, subtil synthetiser melodies in the chorus and amazing electric piano and sax solos, it really is a very special release. It’s been discovered in a Motor City Drum Ensemble jazz set with Gilles Peterson at the J.A.W. Family Reunion in Berlin back in 2016 where he played it as the closing track of a wonderful musical journey through black music – which was the right occasion for a classic Gilles rewind and the occasion of a shared epiphany. Still, one must not forget its yet poetic still political message now shared once again with the world. The question asked by Kalima sadly still remains as relevant in 2018: Where is the sunshine ?

Darren Daz Dalton aka one half of dj duo Get Down Edits & the man behind all the Get Down Edits production work has been a music lover since his early teens & began collecting Vinyl back in 95 at the tender age of 15 by the time he hit 17 he was out playing gigs in bars & clubs in his native Waterford City & has been djin ever since, 
Over the years he has supported or played beside international djs like Kenny Dope (MAW), 
Kerri Chandler, Chez Damier, Greg Wilson, DJ Deep, The Revenge, Atjazz & Charles Webster to name a few & as part of Get Down Edits alongside dj partner Martin Roche has 
been doing the festival and international circuit with great reception playing some incredible events including the famous Glastonbury in 2016, Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Electric Elephant in Croatia, the House of Disco Warehouse Project Takeover in London, and so on. Summer 2017 saw Get Down Edits playing as part of the Glitterbox Ibiza family alongside huge names like Dimitri From Paris and Aeroplane at the incredible Hi Ibiza venue and Defected Croatia at The Garden in Tisno, they also went onto to play Suncebeat Croatia,
Production wise Darren grew a curiosity & interest in how the records he was playing were put together very early & started doing edits for use in his own dj sets back 2001,
It was years later before the whole edit scene emerged & he was drawn to it straight away & under the advise & encouragement of Greg Wilson set up Get Down Edits the record label in 2011, since then the labels put out 6 vinyl releases which included his own edit work along side guest producers like Late Nite Tuff Guy, Deep & Disco (JKriv), Fingermann, LTJ as well as releasing with other labels including Disco Deviance, Editorial, Samosa Records, Glenview Records, Daje Funk, Queen & Disco, Wall Of Fame, Masterworks Music, Nang, Paper Disco, Hot Digits, File Under Disco, Re-Loved, Golden Soul, Slighty Transformed, Hotbox Boogie, Reckless Records, Deep Sense, Alpaca Edits, Unkwn Records, Ism Records, Elevation Recordings & Midnight Riot.
Darren has also been busy with remix work & has remixed for artists like Funk My Jesus, Nine Lives, Heion, Slync, JMRS, Darran Nugent, Oh Yeah, JFunc, Stephen Richards, Smashed Atoms, JB Dizzy, Jay Ru, Fran Deeper & Rayko, Soopaman inc feat Andre Espeut, JKriv & The Disco Machine As well fellow Irish artists & acts like Le Galaxie, King Kong Company, Kormac, Danny G & The Major 7th`s & Peter Vogelaar as well as written some original pieces of his own including “Sweet Love” where he teamed up with two piece Irish electronic act Cut Once which got released with a serious of remixes from Mix & Fairbanks, Fingerman, Jay Ru, Micko Roche,
