Get Physical Music revisits one of its most enduring anthems as Yulia Niko delivers a brand-new remix of Helsloot’s ‘Let’s Pretend’, one of the label’s biggest success stories of the past decade. Originally released in 2022, the track topped the Beatport Indie Dance chart and remained in the Top 100 for over two years. Now, Yulia flips the script with a fresh, house-leaning reinterpretation, marking the second single from her forthcoming Body Language Vol. 26 compilation, due later this summer.

Yulia’s remix brings a totally new flavor to the beloved track. Definitive Recordings continues its commitment to bridging classic house energy with the sound of today, as St. David steps up with a bold and banging remix of ‘Good Music’, the iconic 2011 release by John Acquaviva, Alex D’Elia, Nihil Young, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Dan Diamond.

Reimagining the original through his signature lens of groove and analog flavor, St. David transforms ‘Good Music’ into a timeless house smasher, anchored by a powerful bassline and a shuffling rhythm that keeps the floor moving from the first bar. The mastermind behind Basic Channel, Hard Wax and Rhythm & Sound doesn't do mixes. For RA.1000, he made an exception.

Trace Mark Ernestus's path, and you trace the evolution of electronic sound itself. The timeline of contemporary Berlin is unimaginable without him. At first, that meant Hard Wax, the crucial hub that shaped the early era of the city's techno revolution. Carl Craig once said it plainly: "Mark was ground zero."

From there, Ernestus never stopped. There's the birth of dub techno and the near-flawless catalogue that followed through Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound. There's his immersion in Senegalese mbalax with Ndagga Rhythm Force. Lately, that means Open Ground the Wuppertal bunker that's letting people hear music as never before.

As part three of RA.1000, Ernestus has kindly supplied his first studio DJ mix. As you might expect, it's technically immaculate, but more than that, it feels like a substantial and generous conduit to one of the world's most vital genres.

Amapiano remains underexplored in music media. Publications like our own are still learning to keep pace with the South African sound's global pull, animating millions across the globe. 

You'll hear the range and richness of the genre across the near two-hour mix, from the gothic, percussive stomp of Caltetonic's "Bambela"  to the devotional glow of GemValleyMusiq's "Something Spiritual."

Through all of this, Ernestus has remained understated. He lets the music speak for him, with a quiet honesty that lies in decades of opening doors—creating the conditions for new sounds and scenes to flourish and carry the culture forward.

Having released Jori Hulkkonen’s latest and greatest album, Oh But I Am (as well as
the one before that!), Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records now proudly
present five fine remixes of ‘Black Books,’ a track taken from the LP.
In original form the track is a slow and wintry electronic crawler with radiant synths
adding some real heat to the glassy, icy tinkles. Triumphant trumpets add an air of
musical majesty and it’s a great set ender that will leave people on a clean and crisp
musical high. First to remix is the accomplished Finn himself, and he turns out a
great dub that has sonorous bass and big rubber kicks driving along the elegantly
atmospheric synths up top.
Next comes former Art Department man and long time Toronto techno star Kenny
Glasgow. Here he keeps things slow and blissed out, with percolating drums and
starry synths that are superbly spine tingling and spaced out. My Favorite Robot’s
eponymous in house production team then get in on the action and come up with
some seriously heavyweight techno drums and high intensity synth lines that are sure
to blow any dance floor wide open whenever they get dropped.
Next, Doc L Junior (a.k.a. Lunchbox) is a Norwegian DJ and producer from labels like
Sex Tags Mania and Music For Freaks and his Robo Dub is a charming slow churner
with cosmic arps, arresting sounds and sci fi vibes in its deep disco bones. Finally,
No.19 mainstay Nitin teams up with Butr for a final great remix that is littered with
loose, dusty drum & bass breaks and liquid, golden pads that take you back to a 90s
jungle hey day in blissful fashion.
This is a diverse and deliciously on point remix EP that offers plenty for everyone.

Get ready for a growling tech-house-shuffle as Andreas Schreck, AKA Agent! asks just one question with his latest EP: Can U Dig It. Marking his debut on Get Physical Music, ‘Can U Dig It’ is a four track tech-house EP with a hustled vibe and a deep sense of groove. First up is the title track, with its low-end bobbing and bouncing around under a relentless fresh percussion. A great example of a steamy tech-house burner. Agent! continues with the same intentions, lifting us with the percussion and holding us with the music in ‘Southside Berlin’. The Dub mix included emphasizes and strengthens this, boosting the energy and increasing the focus on the groove. The final piece, ‘Can’t Stop’, lowers the lights and darkens the mood, creating a beautifully rhythmic atmosphere. Elegantly simple and easy to follow, yet ripe for super late sessions and the handful of dancefloor-veterans still pushing on.
