C.Vogt makes his debut on Bar 25 Music with ¨Made In Macao¨ EP. Son of the renowned German violinist K.Vogt, music has been second nature to C.Vogt for as long as he can remember. In a short period of time the producer has released a slew of high profile releases on All Day I Dream, Running Back, Diynamic, Rebirth and has gone from local to global project collaborating with big artists like Butch.

A title track ¨Made In Macao¨ comes with a remix by an expert at creating harmonious illusions of sound, Germany’s Powel. His talent circulates not only throughout his discography but in his performances around the world which include his annual live on the Robot Heart bus at Burning Man, and residencies with the All Day I Dream family around renowned guru Lee Burridge.

The second track on the EP was recorded in collaboration with Patrick Jeremic — an electronic music producer located in Mainz, Germany noted for releases on Get Weird, All Day I Dream, Rebirth, and great many other respected imprints. Original track comes along with a remix by BonÏpso, who’s release “Introspection” saw the light on “Feines Tier” label, distributed by Kompakt Records. In only few days, it reached the 3th and 4th place of the Top 10 Electronica & Indie dance releases on Beatport.

Ahead of @cook-strummer's ‘Berlin Gets Physical’, the artist serves up a fresh EP featuring three new cuts plus one - 'For Berlin' - which is taken from that much anticipated mix. 

Cook Strummer is maybe best known for his 'Rising' single on this label in 2020. It was followed up by some outstanding remixes in 2021 and now the superb new compilation ahead which sees Strummer dive deep in selecting a Berlin soundtrack for 2022. The original tracks here again showcase his mix of fresh rhythms, vocals and melodies with drum machines, guitars and synths which can take the form of anything from Berlin new wave to slow tech or deep tech. 

Opener 'Juste Passer' is a short but super sweet ambient piece with a heavy mood and soulful piano chords. They are elegant and poised but steeped in an all-consuming contemplation. The fantastic 'Let Go' then layers up nagging basslines with slowly percolating house drums. Up top are yearning, anguished vocals that are delivered in a emotive and beautiful style. It makes for a devastating emotional impact on a musical house groove. 'The Way You Feel' completes the EP with a funky bass guitar riff and slapping drums that get you on your toes. Here the vocal has a more playful and carefree feel to make for a brilliantly catchy tune. Last of all is 'For Berlin' which is taken from the forthcoming mix and pairs light, airy melodies with heavy and off-grid drums and hits. It has a DIY feel with retro 80s motifs and more rugged guitar lines that bring new wave influences next to the unique-sounding vocals. 

This is a top selection of very different tracks from Cook Strummer.

Ahead of the release of Cook Strummer's Berlin Gets Physical in September comes the first of two EPs from it. 

Berlin-based Cacao Records bosses and brotherly duo KEENE are behind the opening track. They are regulars on labels like Connected and have a deep and spiritual house sound. That is the case here with the dynamic drums and chunky bass of 'Ecoute' which comes with Afro vocals and loose, organic percussion. It's a fantastically atmospheric affair followed by a collaboration between two more Berlin based artists Los Cabra & Manuel Sahagun. 

They mix organic rhythms and electronic tension on labels like Bar 25 Music and Stil Vor Talent. Here, their 'Italian Groove' is a crisp tech house offering with snappy snares and tight drums. Once they have you locked in, a rugged bass synth signals take off while ever more lush and cosmic synths colour the airwaves. It's an expansive and high energy track to ignite any DJ set. 

This superb EP is a great taster of the full compilation to come.

Cook Strummer has complied the latest Berlin Gets Physical but first comes a second EP taken from it with two fresh cuts.

This one opens up with a collaboration between Daniel Jaeger - a German underground mainstay who has put out a huge number of high quality tunes over the last decade - and fellow house talent and Jaeger’s brother Valenti. 'Quarantine Cowboys' is Valenti’s first ever release but is hugely accomplished with a superbly low-slung groove, a dirty bass guitar and hiccuping beats. It seduces in its own sleazy fashion, with filtered spoken words adding to the steaminess. It all adds up to a fresh house sound indeed.

Berlin-born Pardon Moi and Feinstoff founder, multi-instrumentalist and touring DJ Freudenthal has a dark wave sound that is all his own. Here he pair up with DJ and producer, Nowhere People, an artist who has been on the scene for a decade now, releasing on labels like Blaufield Music and Imprint Rural and playing regularly at the likes of Kater Blau. ‘Cipher’ is designed for strobe lit dance floors and comes with lashings of wave influences as this track proves. It’s a stark cut with slapping hits, rugged bass and rave lines that amp up the energy levels, as brilliantly cosmic synth patterns unfold up top to bring the light and ensure maximum impact on the floor.

With this second EP, the scene is now set for the arrival of the full compilation later in September.

Three years after Reno Wurzbacher’s entry into the series, Cook Strummer now offers up his own Berlin Gets Physical, a collection of all-new and exclusive tracks. 

This collection will come digitally but also as two different vinyl versions - one will be available publicly, the other is a special edition produced together with the Belgian gallery, Mazel Galerie. The cover art for it was designed by Lyon-based street artist, Brusk and the original will be auctioned by the same gallery in Brussels. 

Berlin-based, Belgium-born Strummer has been a Get Physical associate for several years. He has dropped various singles including the standout 'Rising' which also featured on the Words Don't Come Easy series, and always crafts the perfect mix of rhythm and melody with plenty of hints of his homeland's famous cold wave sound. He often uses his own voice, drum machines, synths and guitars in his music, and since his debut album in 2018 on LOK Recordings, he has had high profile support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Adam Port and Ame. This summer, he dropped 'Atmosphere' on Obsolet Records which proved another successful outing and now Berlin Gets Physical finds him digging deep into the famous city's freshest and most essential house sounds across 15 well-sequenced tracks. 

His own new offering 'For Berlin' kicks off with a dark and edgy vibe, gothic vocals and tense drums. Glitchy hits and blurting synths add to the prickly atmosphere and immediately lock you in while Los Cabra & Manuel Sahagun's 'Italian Groove' then takes off on waves of serrated dark disco synths and Freudenthal feat. Nowhere People continue that macho disco vibe with the rugged chug and cosmic rays of 'Cipher.' 

The twinkling 'Bad Karma' by Marvin Jam & Le Mythe then allows you to catch your breath with a slower, more spacious dub disco sound and the twanging bass riffs and exotic effects of Daniel Jaeger & Valenti's 'Quarantine Cowboys' rebuilds the atmosphere with some innovative house blues. The mid-section brings brain-frying synth work on 'Out Of The Blue', bubbling dub house and disco courtesy of dramasquad's sprawling 'ziggy' and percussive deep house looseness from 'Abayomi.' 

After KEENE's rubbery and rolling Afro sounds comes more cosmic house richness from Dan Buri and Max Joni & MUKKIMIAU, the driving tech of Red Pig Flower & Lulla and heady sounds of Mike Book. There is a raw house heaviness to FreedomB's 'State of Shock' and things shut down with Electronic Elephant's tightly coiled minimal drum funk on 'Ask Yourself'. 

This on point collection is an authentic snapshot of the contemporary underground sound of the Berlin.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language.
