Over the years, Berlin has been cited as Oliver Koletzki's main point of reference and, more importantly, his endless source of inspiration. His albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 are wholehearted tributes of the German capital, as its importance is continuously hinted and charted. Friedrichshain, one of Berlin's vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Oliver's heart. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Kreuzberg's wall paintings adorn Stil vor Talent's cover sleeves and host their headquarters. There are little to no corners in the city that haven't brought a spark of inspiration into the mix. The Schneeweiss compilation series, now at its 12th installment, is built as a form of tribute to all these particles, tied in together into a series of carefully curated tracks. New AFFKT’s album will bring together all the best feelings and elements of the Spanish producer creativity into one cohesive release. New concepts and styles to deliver everyone some of the energy that needs to be released after a forced pause. ‘The Big Picture’ will be probably his most expansive and multifaceted electronic-driven album to date.

And, to show something, here is “Let it Burn” where the Spanish music-producer melts with efficiency edgy-techno, indie dance and new wave sounds. The track leads the listener directly into the sonic universe and experience the album is. New concepts and styles to deliver everyone some of the energy that needs to be released after a forced pause. 

“'Let it burn' is one of the first songs that came out of the new album so it is carefully and slow-simmered cooked, a composition where I tried to create a balance of styles and stay halfway through Indie and Eletroclash, music genres that influenced me a lot when I started making music in the mid / late 90s” AFFKT attests. “Personally, I feel it as one of the most complete songs I ever did along my good friend and favourite vocalist Sutja Gutiérrez; it is a direct song which seeks simplicity and perfect forms. His Lyrics fit perfectly fine with the album concept, they are somewhere between light and dark, but definitely optimistic.” 

Last but not least, “Let it Burn” EP includes a remix of the single by Santiago Garcia as well as a dub version.

Who other than SVT founder Oliver Koletzki could possibly open that third and last instalment, we’re asking you. And to say the least, things get straight out funky from the first second on. Carried by the anthemic call of its title, “Get On The Bus” urges you to join us onboard the disco ship and boogie down as it ought to be, showering the floor under cascades of trumpeting brass, outrageously sensual slap bass and heightened drums. Deorbiting’s coastal daydream “Oceandrive Miami 84” has us surfing a chill wave complete with the prismatic synths and 80s-laced arpeggios out a Miami Vice episode.

Deer Jade’s lushly forested “Perfect Place Perfect Time” knits a dreamy web for you to lose yourself in, fusing ASMR-like speech with effervescing tribal house rhythms and brittle pop harmonics. With “Godana”, Daniel Rateuke invites us to lose track of the beaten path and venture into a kaleidoscopic network of distorted percussions and Afro-futuristic minimalism. Going down a more syncopated route, Kellerkind’s sliced-and-diced weapon “Back On Track” merges the rousing power of step music, piano house poetics and vintage machinery to get its funky message across. 

A finely woven slab of the non-formulaic micro house with a strong organic feel, Fabian Krooss' “Picking Nuts” paints the sky with all kinds of vibrant shades, from iridescent steel pans to tapping drums, via bewitched computer scripts. For their part, Niko Schwind and Felix Raphael contribute the slow-burning “Last Intersection” - a ghostly roller dwelling the frontier between sorrowful downtempo and mystique-imbued melodic techno. Last but not least, Polaroit's “Distortion Jungle” wraps the record on a distinctly off-beat kind of jack, throwing back to back short-lived, dysphoric piano stabs with heavily processed synth ellipses and raw bass anamorphosis.

Fabian Krooss - Picking Nuts [Snippet]

'A stalwart, and in the true sense of the word (as well as being one of the nicest people you could hope to meet on a night out), Al Bradley has been obsessed with House Music from the moment he stepped through the doors of the seminal Hacienda night club in Manchester in the summer of 1989. It’s an obsession that’s lead him down a long and winding road, including 18 years and counting as a label boss, allowed him to feature on nearly 100 releases as well as celebrated residencies for powerhouses like Fabric London, Bugged Out Manchester and Pioneer DJ Radio. Being the kind of guy Al Bradley is though, he’s still also made time to kick it with the younger cats at spots like Stereosleaze (London) and Lip Service and Deadbeat Disco in his adopted hometown of Leeds. 

We’re genuinely over the moon to bring you this EP, and as such, we’ve complimented the originals with what we feel are some pretty dandy remixes, spread across both the Vinyl and Digital releases, coming from the likes of self-proclaimed “product of a mis-spent mancunion youth” Danny “Moodymanc” Ward, the vinyl enthusiast’s favourite Tommy “Vicari Jnr” and the ever evolving genius of Colour Series Label Boss “Jem Haynes”

'Fool’s Gold' feat. Jono McCleery is the final single from Karol XVII & MB Valence's much anticipated new album, Essay, which drops in February 2022.

Karol XVII & MB Valence is a Polish duo with more than a decade spent playing around the world and serving up vital house sounds. They run their own Loco Records, have been nominated as Best Deep House Artists at the Beatport Music Awards, and always explore fresh new ground with each release. As well as their club and studio experiences, they also have backgrounds in composition and sound engineering. They are core Get Physical family members who contributed to 2020's 'Retrospective' and mark their finest work yet with the 'Essay' album, as hinted at with this classy new single. For this latest offering they have teamed up with UK singer songwriter and Ninja Tune associate Jono McCleery for something rather special.

The fantastic 'Fool's Gold' (ARPS Mix) begins with twisted, tortured synths that eventually give way to gorgeous keys. They strike a melancholic mood, while Jono McCleery's spine-tingling vocals up the emotional ante as the warm, deep drums roll on and cast a mesmeric spell. Jackspeare has released on Loco and Island Moods and remixed this outfit several times in the past. His version comes with a dark bassline rolling down low, while the poignant chords and soulful vocals hang up top. It's a track that brings real musicality to the dance floor. Last of all is a gorgeous BosaNoga Mix that removes the drums and reworks the track with acoustic guitar, soft shakers and languid chords. It's a heart-aching piece of gentle Latin-tinged rhythm for intimate late nights.

These are three superb new tunes that come just ahead of the brilliant full length.

'Born in France, established in Switzerland, and now, via a detour in Montreal, Maxime Laffon lands on Culprit with his debut for the Los Angeles label. On the “Escapade” EP the classic meets contemporary, as Laffon taps into the legacy of legendary dance music he grew up with and the recent experience as the resident for the famed D Club in Lausanne, where he affiliated with none other than Luciano and the Vagabundos crew.
 
“Escapade” and “Everybody” are two slabs of crackling Electronic House, percolating with dancefloor energy and bouncy mischief.  “Escapade” is the lighter, more melodic of the pair, while “Everybody” sports the chunky groove and the catchy vocal hook.

The remix arrives courtesy Tiefschwarz – long friends of the label who are finally lassoed into a contribution. And what a contribution it is! With Ali Schwarz at the helm, this rework adds the gorgeous late night Deep Techno sheen to “Everybody.”'

I had the chance to meet the Robot Heart crew twelve years ago in NYC for a giant Halloween party where I played on the ‘copy bus’. 

That was a life changing moment somehow. I realized my music could be the soundtrack for a world that’s beyond our imagination, far from my Paris studio.

In 2023, I come full circle by performing at Burning Man for the very first time with my partner Liset Alea. 

This Thursday sunset set was a moment we’ll savour for years to come.

In this live recording you’ll hear: Liset singing 30 feet above the ground from inside the blinking heart, the voices of multiple colorful creatures dancing all around us, the massive Know Audio custom sound system rumbling under our feet, the laughter of unicorns, dragons and shamans… and if you really listen carefully you might even hear the buzz of a billion stars shimmering above our head.

Memories of Robot Heart founder Geo carried us along the set. His legacy will live forever.

Thank you Robot Heart for your commitment to music, love and Burning Man.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language.
