Yulia Niko delivers uplifting House remix of Helsloot’s ‘Let’s Pretend’.

Get Physical Music revisits one of its most enduring anthems as Yulia Niko delivers a brand-new remix of Helsloot’s ‘Let’s Pretend’, one of the label’s biggest success stories of the past decade. Originally released in 2022, the track topped the Beatport Indie Dance chart and remained in the Top 100 for over two years. Now, Yulia flips the script with a fresh, house-leaning reinterpretation, marking the second single from her forthcoming Body Language Vol. 26 compilation, due later this summer.

Yulia’s remix brings a totally new flavor to the beloved track. With a bouncy, synth-driven bassline and a classic house piano progression, she gives ‘Let’s Pretend’ a warm, dancefloor-focused energy that stands apart from the original’s deeper indie vibe. The result is a joyful and dynamic version that’s built for sunny sets, open-air floors, and peak-time moments.

Definitive Recordings continues its commitment to bridging classic house energy with the sound of today, as St. David steps up with a bold and banging remix of ‘Good Music’, the iconic 2011 release by John Acquaviva, Alex D’Elia, Nihil Young, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Dan Diamond.

Reimagining the original through his signature lens of groove and analog flavor, St. David transforms ‘Good Music’ into a timeless house smasher, anchored by a powerful bassline and a shuffling rhythm that keeps the floor moving from the first bar. While the heart of the original, Dan Diamond’s vocal, remains at the forefront, St. David injects new life with rolling drums and the addition of classic piano chords that gradually build into a peak-time weapon.

Known for his remixes of Las Americas’ ‘Do It’ on Definitive, St. David is quickly becoming one of the genre’s most respected tastemakers. The mastermind behind Basic Channel, Hard Wax and Rhythm & Sound doesn't do mixes. For RA.1000, he made an exception.

Trace Mark Ernestus's path, and you trace the evolution of electronic sound itself. The timeline of contemporary Berlin is unimaginable without him. At first, that meant Hard Wax, the crucial hub that shaped the early era of the city's techno revolution. Carl Craig once said it plainly: "Mark was ground zero."

From there, Ernestus never stopped. There's the birth of dub techno and the near-flawless catalogue that followed through Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound. There's his immersion in Senegalese mbalax with Ndagga Rhythm Force. Lately, that means Open Ground the Wuppertal bunker that's letting people hear music as never before.

As part three of RA.1000, Ernestus has kindly supplied his first studio DJ mix. As you might expect, it's technically immaculate, but more than that, it feels like a substantial and generous conduit to one of the world's most vital genres.

Amapiano remains underexplored in music media. Publications like our own are still learning to keep pace with the South African sound's global pull, animating millions across the globe. 

You'll hear the range and richness of the genre across the near two-hour mix, from the gothic, percussive stomp of Caltetonic's "Bambela"  to the devotional glow of GemValleyMusiq's "Something Spiritual."

Through all of this, Ernestus has remained understated. He lets the music speak for him, with a quiet honesty that lies in decades of opening doors—creating the conditions for new sounds and scenes to flourish and carry the culture forward.

One of our favorite ORIGIN producers is back with another deep and dark work; the Oricon EP. As we already know from the handful of his other releases here on Get Physical, FreakMe throws us a lot of groove and energy. The title track follows these same principles, giving a good dose of percussion before letting the synths bleed in. This is where FreakMe slowly raises the energy, and before you know it you’ve already started dancing. The tracks holds, and keeps, our attention perfectly with applause to a brilliant, dramatic and very smooth composition. ‘Through The Crowd’ follows. Already leaking a thick atmosphere form the beginning we get a sense of what we’re in for. ‘Through The Crowd’ really showcases the musical style FreakMe has become known for quite well. The track then becomes an epic mix of sci-fi house before returning to earth and setting the groove straight.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari.
