Last month, I hosted Atish All Night Los Angeles: a 7 hour open-to-close set in a warehouse. It was one of my best DJ experiences of the last few years, as Atish All Night’s tend to be. I’m sharing a recording of part of the evening, which has a few different flavors of house music. Hope you enjoy!

The March episode of the Get Physical radio show is here to keep you locked in as we move from winter to spring. The show opens with the superb N-You-Up dub mix of ‘Promises’ from Boogie Vice & Deep Aztec, as the French producer reworks the original into a stripped back and raw affair, ready for the dance floor. Hot on its heels is our co-founder DJ T. with the brilliant ‘Rapture', opening the way for back to back tracks from Switzerland’s Kellerkind. The selection sees another gem from Holland's Helsloot, pure class from Kate Simko and an all powerful Tube and Berger remix of the ever-young ‘Heater’ by Samim. I feel like I can truly be my funky, freaky self at DISTRIKT. The camp and the crowd are so incredibly positive, encouraging and supportive. During this set I remember feeling that energy with every drop, with every mix. That kind of vibe is infectious and allows you to take risks, to push things. Hoj - DISTRIKT Sound - Burning Man 2022

April’s Get Physical radio show has the latest and greatest from the label and friends. The show gets going with not one but two versions of the Eitan Reiter cover of ‘Pump Up the Jam’; the club mix brings plenty of rave-ready action, whilst DJ T.’s mix is a stripped-back and tribal affair. It seems multiple versions are all the rage this month as we dive into both the Patrice Bäumel and HOSH remixes of the evergreen ‘Body Language’ from our own M.A.N.D.Y and Booka Shade. Both remixes have been doing damage over the last few weeks with support from the likes of Adam Beyer, Nicole Moudaber, Laurent Garnier and a host of others. Amongst the rest of this month’s show, we have music from Kellerkind, Wolf Story and Money Safari. There are also remixes from Oscar L, who takes on ‘I Don’t Know’ by Chelonis R. Jones, and Lemon & Herb, who close out the show with their reworking of Thandi Draai’s ‘Jika’. Throw in a Get Physcial classic from the one and only Honey Dijon, alongside Tom Peters, and you have an unmissable selection for Spring.

Hard to believe it’s been half a year since I uploaded my last set on Soundcloud. I’m happy to share this recording from The Bow in Buenos Aires, recorded last month. 

If you’ve been following over the years, it’s no secret that The Bow holds a special place in my heart as one of the best places in the world to play, since the Argentinians are some of the most passionate music lovers I’ve ever seen. 32 hours of travel for a 3 hour set (and 3 steaks) is well worth it, every single time.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari. There have also been carefully considered forays into thriving house music scenes in Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Croatia and India: dedicated compilations and EPs have highlighted those region's most exciting new talents and given them a global platform. 

The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal. It was true in 2002, and it will be true in 2022 and beyond. To celebrate the occasion, the label will reissue some of its most classic tracks, host special anniversary events and release a new range of merchandise in collaboration with Australian brand One Teaspoon. Get Physical has already made a huge contribution to the history of contemporary house music, but rest assured the German label still has plenty more to say.
