After an exciting build-up featuring key EPs from it, DJ One Five now unveils his full and fantastic Detroit Gets Physical Vol. 1 compilation album.

DJ One Five grew up in the Motor City, exposed to real house and techno from a young age. A 2008 move to Atlanta, another house hotbed, led to a residency at DJ Pierre’s Wildpitch club and tour dates around the US. DJ One Five has since returned to Detroit and has joined the Afro Acid team with DJ Pierre and become a leader for the next generation with releases on the Jack Trax label and now Get Physical. On this excellent compilation, he draws together the tracks and artists that best represent the Detroit sound that is so revered around the world.

The man himself kicks off with the deep, dark house of 'Love on Dexter Ave' then builds through the silky, disco-tinged loops of Gino's 'Dam I Wrong,' frosty dub chords and jazz sax lines of Biz's 'Citylights' and hypnotising melodies of 'Carbon' by Laurent Chanal.

DJ One Five's own bumping 'Russell Woods' and deep Afro jam 'Play On Detroit' feature in the middle of the compilation next to a hi-tek soul remix from Motor City royalty Scan7 and epic deep techno reshape from Vince Watson. There are also blistering broken beats from GPU Panic and far-sighted soulful techno sounds from Biz before a Jon Dixon remix closes down with a brilliantly funk and jazz fuelled house vibe that brings real joy.

This is an authentic snapshot of the current Detroit house sound, compiled by someone who knows it best.

Unexpectedly intense and joyful festival activities made us move this summer release to the end of the season. But it’s never too late for great music, which on top can finally be played in clubs again. For our mini-jubilee release No. 40, the super-talented DARIO with first release experiences on labels like Avotre, Nervous Rec. and Moonbootique, teams up with Berlin-Munich-based duo AREL & SCHAEFER who put their mark on Deepalma, Milk & Sugar or Bar25 Music. Together this combo delivers a delicious and floor-proofed EP. Accomplished with a remix by Hungarian DJ & producer DANIEL MEISTER, this EP comes with fresh and brilliant grooves.



„Our Space“ has been road-tested over the summer in many festivals and we can promise: „Damn yessss, this rocks“. The chord in the manner of classic house music comes on a crisp and tight rhythm, which works already as a ‚standalone‘. So it’s an easy job for the hook to screw and wind into the crowds mind, for calling this track a proper peak time tool with an extra portion fun. Daniel Meister takes it on for a remix and strikes as usual with his high quality sound - warm and clear! He splits the main part to reduced cuts and doesn’t lose any of the spirit from the original by keeping it much more minimalistic. Impressing!





The second original „Sacred Ground“ follows up on tight grooves and convinces by an excellent deepness, which is always high enough for breathing cooled-down summer air with a relaxed happiness. Let’s have a dance!

Crosstown Rebels’ sister imprint Rebellion continues its 2022 release schedule in June with a maiden offering from Italo-Mexican artist Concret. La Llorona is his label debut, as he teams up with poet Carlito Dalceggio and world-renowned actress Golshifteh Farahani. 

“La Llorona is an antique Mexican tale that finds its roots in the pre hispanic legend of Chokani, in Nahuatl language. Together with Carlito Dalceggio writing the poem and painting the visual imaginary of the modern Llorona, we tried to give a new identity to the legend behind the story. We finally found its voice with the spoken interpretation of the poem by the great Golshifteh Farahani.” - Concret

The ‘Superb’ version of Chokani begins proceedings, taking the form of a transcendent musical cut. It feels shamanic in places through the ethereal vocal tones of Golshifteh Farahani, whilst CONCRET’s production capabilities bring us back to the dancefloor with staggered, breakbeat-esque percussion. It’s a musically-diverse offering, a trait further showcased in the ‘Extravaganza’ edition. The seven-minute piece retains an eeriness throughout, meandering between feelings of spirituality, ritualism and blissful musical awakening.

Concret is the music project of Diego Angelico Escobar, Italo-Mexican artist and DJ based between Mexico City and New York. His music has been released on several leading industry labels including Correspondant, Motordiscs, Toy Tonics, Watergate Records as well as on his own label Tráfico Music. An accomplished artist also, his career has continually crossed the barriers between music, sound design and perforative art installations, showcasing an inherent talent for artistic expression in all forms.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari. The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal. It was true in 2002, and it will be true in 2025 and beyond.
