Cuban duo PAUZA have curated new series ‘Cuba, Get Physical!’ and it kicks off with one of their own tracks with Arema Arega and a remix by Monkey Safari.

Paula Fernandez and Zahira Sanchez, both from Havana, have a distinctive take on house music that draws on their rich local cultural references. The result is a sound rich in organic percussion and Afro-tinged drums that are authentic and alive every step of the way. They have been associated with Get Physical for a while and have released solo EPs and contributed to the Cocada - The Second Season compilation in the past. Here they work with Arema Arega, a Cuban singer-songwriter, music producer, painter and fashion designer.

'Caliente' is a brilliantly rich house sound with organic percussion and hypnotising vocals from Arega. The groove bumps and shuffles, with wooden hits and bubbling bass next to slick synth work and sensuous trumpet sounds which add up to a seductive and cultural track.

Label mainstays Monkey Safari then step up with a remix that goes deep. It's sprinkled with shakers, delicate chord work and moody grooves that snake late into the night and get you in a trance.

This is a superb introduction to the forthcoming Cuba, Get Physical! EP.

An all-star cast assemble for the latest single release on BLOND:ISH’s Abracadabra label, with Band&Dos collaborating with Aaron Sevilla on the production, and featuring Toshi on vocals.  ‘Sobe’ breezes through with hypnotic percussion and emotive melodies, as Toshi’s vocal performance is a sweet as the sun!

Venezuelan duo Band&Dos have been responsible for some sizzling releases on Triangular Recordings, Hurry Up Slowly and Tortuga Tribes, and on ‘Sobe’ have teamed up with Aaron Sevilla, the Mexican DJ & producer who has lit up the Afro House charts with prodigious tunes for TRANSA, Sunset Gathering and Nervous Records.

Speaking of this new collaboration, Sevilla explains “Band&dos and I were talking about collaborating for a long time and we decided that when we do it, we should do something really important, so we decided to bring someone as important as Toshi, the number one singer in the Afro House scene, to do the vocals.  Lyrically, the narrative is along the lines of ‘I won’t make a fool out of myself, I'll never take advantage of myself’ which we think is a very strong message”.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house.
