Before his long-awaited album ‘Michele’ lands on October 19th, Get Physical are releasing a new single from it in the lead up. The track is ‘Khahlela’, features Mx Blouse and is a fantastic window into the excellent and accomplished LP.

Rixon has a varied background that takes in jazz, folk and downtempo but the new album—at the request of his mother—is truly focussed on dancing grooves for the club. The talented South African artist plays live, as well as making music with his APC40, and always cooks up involving moods and grooves that make a lasting impact.

The excellent ‘Khahlela’ is another case in point. It’s a shimmering, spine-tingling house track with funky bass and elastic synths that really gets you moving. The vocals from MX Blouse lend it an exotic feel and the mixture of organic drums and textured synths is utterly compelling. The instrumental version is equally colourful, with the infectious drums really carrying you away on a breezy groove that is subtly cosmic.

This is another vital package from a real South African musical star.
