Underground mainstays M.E.M.O. and SiS combine forces for new Nao EP. Both tracks explore rich, organic, Afro house styles.

Malaga's M.E.M.O. has already topped the Beatport Electronica charts this year with his gem 'Forgether' with Thimble and it comes after many other stylish sounds on home label Mobilee. He has more than 25 years of experience in the scene and his music often makes its way into the record bags of tastemakers like Black Coffee, Solomun and Bedouin. Here he hooks up with SiS, Woomoon Ibiza regular, founder of Cocolino Records and a producer who knows how to cook up heartwarming grooves.

Opener 'Nao' is a percussive Afro house track with an alluring vocal. Snappy snares and shakers, twanging hits and broken rhythms all make it a physical sound but one with a lasting sense of emotion thanks to the stirring chord vamps. On the flip, 'Chaman' cuts loose with a blend of futuristic synth work and organic percussion. They intertwine perfectly as humid chords and breathless vocals enrich the vibrant track with authentic Afro soul.

Amine K is Morocco's leading house music ambassador. He has been a pioneer in his local scene for many years and is now as well known on the international circuit for his organic sounds on labels like Sol Selectas, Monaberry and Do Not Sit On The Furniture. Here he links with Robert Owens who has been voicing house music since the 80s and continues to add his signature sounds to only the finest records.

The wonderful 'Tinker Bell' is one of those: it is an electrifying house cut with sleek synth designs that twist and turn above the groove. The smoky, rousing vocal tones of Owens add real soul and are sure to captivate hearts and minds.

Remixing it are WAHM whose alias means 'illusion' in Arabic and is in reference to music's effects on brain functions. The live electronic duo is composed of two multi-instrumentalists with a passion for blending different musical styles on this label as well as the likes of Diynamic. They flip 'Tinker Bell' into something more stripped back and raw with crisp tech drums and snappy snares brought to life by the thought-provoking Owens vocal.

The release package for Gee Lane's 'Dancing With The Evil' features two distinct versions. The original mix offers a compelling fusion of strong, groovy peaktime Afro House with Blurum's impactful English rap vocals, delivering a robust groove and heavy bassline. 

In contrast, the Cee ElAssaad Remix transforms the track into a groovy, elegant Deep House masterpiece, characterized by smooth keys and an irresistible rhythm, making it a perfect fit for the dance floor. Both versions highlight different facets of the track, showcasing a diverse range of musical expressions.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari. There have also been carefully considered forays into thriving house music scenes in Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Croatia and India: dedicated compilations and EPs have highlighted those region's most exciting new talents and given them a global platform. 

The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal. It was true in 2002, and it will be true in 2022 and beyond. To celebrate the occasion, the label will reissue some of its most classic tracks, host special anniversary events and release a new range of merchandise in collaboration with Australian brand One Teaspoon. Get Physical has already made a huge contribution to the history of contemporary house music, but rest assured the German label still has plenty more to say.
