Carl Cox is an industry figurehead whos legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell, and the new release features the return of Italian artist Vikthor. 

Vikthor featured an EP on Intec in 2018 that picked up big name support by people ranging from Adam Beyer to Pan-Pot, and this is his much anticipated follow up release. Along with catching the attention of Carl Cox, others that have also released his music include The YellowHeads' Reload Black Label, Steve Mulder's Orange, and the highly respected Bush Records run by Eric Powell. Also an accomplished DJ in his home city of Naples, his debut on Intec is a fine example of the aggressive techno style that he has become known for. Quickly snowballing in popularity, he is well on his way to joining the others from his home city such as Joseph Capriati and Marco Carola who have played a large role in putting Italian techno on the worlds map of electronic music. 

Rebel opens the two track EP with fast flowing hi-hats and a pounding kick drum that contrasts with the comparatively slow notation of the melody stabs. This contrast in rhythms adds to the drama of the track, which driving force is a hypnotic vocal loop full of raw emotion. 

Taking things a little deeper is My Mood which has a ravey synth line full of old school sentiment, which is only amplified by the female vocal stab reminiscent of the techno often played at 90s warehouse raves. Building in tension and full of fire, this would certainly turn up the heat on the dance floor.

Italian artist Hollen makes his Intec debut following a highly successful career thats seen him feature on some of the worlds most influential techno labels such as Terminal M, Tronic, Filth On Acid, Unrilis, KD Music and many more.

Not only a techno producer, Hollen is a talented artist who has also produced many house tracks for leading labels ranging from Nic Fanciullis Saved Records to John Digweeds Bedrock, but despite being an eclectic artist techno is his main passion.

Hollen also expresses his love of techno through releases on his own label Prospect Records, and has a busy gig schedule that sees him play headline sets all over Italy and other parts of the world outside of Europe.

Also collaborating with Hollen for the third track on this EP is The Southern, who himself is a successful artist with many releases on labels ranging from Odd Recordings to AnalyticTrail.

Cosmic Girl opens the release with its flickering melody and seductive vocals layered over a firm percussive foundation. The hypnotic groove and tightly sequenced rhythms give the track a mechanical feel that runs like a well-oiled machine.

Next up Cant You See Them has pitched tom drums and a rolling bassline with vocal stabs and distant chants layered under a thrashing ride cymbal, which combined create an incredibly powerful forward momentum. The euphoric breakdown provides a hands in the air moment before the percussion comes crashing in for some more booty shaking action.

Closing the EP is the collaboration with The Southern titled Hypnotic Whip that's a little darker and more stripped back than the other two tracks. With hints of euphoria and intense clap rhythms, its grainy stabs rip through to add some extra ferocity.

A pair of techno stalwarts unite for their debut collaboration.

An auspicious release for label and artists alike, Pig&Dan and Gregor Tresher have both been delivering quality techno productions for almost two decades. Tresher is a prolific and deeply respected member of the German techno scene responsible for iconic tracks such as a 'A Thousand Nights' and 'Goliath'. His debut on Truesoul was certainly fated. Pig&Dan need no introduction, as one of the label's most consistent and valued contributors, coming off a lush two-tracker 'Telegraphy' released in January.

The artists' connection goes back almost as far as their discographies. Birthed during lockdown, 'Challenger' is their inaugural production link up. The title track is a progressive-tinged bubbler that builds to a celestial crescendo. 'Granular' is an immersive trip, as a drone-like wall of sound meshes with glistening synths, conjuring up an evocative atmosphere akin to a futuristic film soundtrack.
