It's been a while since we released a GD live set and it's time for something handmade and organic. We present an exclusive Live Session by Timo Veranta and Getting Deeper's Ich Hab Bock show host Henheimer, who created this deep tech mix with only their latest releases. All tracks were produced with a lot of heart and soul for the 2020 open air and festival season, which unfortunately did not take place due to the pandemic.

German duo, Manqo are swiftly establishing their presence across the international circuit. Their first release, Won’t Change, was a collaboration with Keinemusik mainstay Rampa and it went on to accumulate over three-hundred-thousand streams on Spotify. They caught the attention of Crosstown Rebels head Damian Lazarus soon after, with Breaking Hearts acting as the first of two EPs to be released on the label in the near future, including a fab remix from South Africa's Black Coffee. 

Manqo spoke on how the track came together, stating: “Breaking Hearts was produced in our studio at Funkhaus Berlin. It was a warm summer day and when we finished it at sunset, we realised it was truly special. We’re very happy it found a home on Crosstown Rebels.”

Hailing from the beautiful northwestern region of Brittany, France, is a wonderful producer we're happy to have featured in December with a premiere of Les Sables Blancs. Revealed in 2014 by leading French independant festivals Astropolis and the Transmusicales, Blutch has risen to the rank of up-and-comer producer, thanks to numerous releases on Astropolis Records, Nowadays, Délicieuse Musique, Barbecue and Dance Around 88, allowing him to collaborate with legends, such as US house pioneer Terrence Parker or Kompakt boss Michael Mayer, and the cream of contemporary producers: Lauer, Red Rack’em, Strip Steve, Mézigue or Maxime Dangles. From Laurent Garnier to Tom Trago, Blutch has received the support of the greatest artists, and the backing of media such as XLR8R, Resident Advisor, Ransom Note, Groove and Faze.

After promising beginnings between hip hop and abstract that have panicked the stream platforms, feverish and wandering house vinyls with soulful influences, contemporary and sunny disco beats, Blutch refines his production work with a thousand textures and sharpens a singular trademark between electronica, breakbeat and house, following in the footsteps of Rone, Bicep or James Holden. He unveiled the first outlines of this new identity on Astropolis Records with ‘La Cité des Etoiles’ EP in 2020, announcing the beginning of a new and long adventure on the label, which welcomes his debut album Jan.28, 2022, ‘Terre Promise’. A tribute to his native Brittany and a sonic turning point revealing a suave and generous electronic music in weightlessness between electronica, IDM, breakbeat, UKG and slow house. 

The first three singles ‘Cobalan’, ‘River’ and ‘Poplar’ announce a very successful first exercise of the long-format, accompanied by remixes from the cream of the French and European electronic scene: Jennifer Cardini & Damon Jee, Mézigue, Lauer, Maud Geffray, Madben, Malcolm.

Terre Promise is an album that will take on its full dimension on stage with a fabulous live AV, in collaboration with the motion designer Romain Navier who accompanies it with a captivating visual fable, a total immersion between two worlds, real and dreamlike, mixing meditative landscapes and abstract dreams. A dreamy and luminous scenography that perfectly illustrates Blutch’s universe.

Riding in with the power to deliver sunshine to world’s rainiest open-air events, Monkey Safari brings rays of light to whatever dance floors they cast their shimmering spell on. 

The German brothers have released on Get Physical numerous times over the years, but not since 2020's 'Palomar.' Their new single 'Ceremony' shows how their sound has evolved since then and comes after more than a decade of EPs and LPs on their own Hommage label as well as the likes of Anjunadeep and Spectrum. What defines the music of Lars Rühlemann and Sven Fröhlich - not least their 2021 album ‘Love Will Set U Free’ - is a curiousness and left-of-centre character that always embellishes each groove. That is once again the case here.

The sublime 'Ceremony' is seven minutes of deep but exotic house music. Expressive vocal wails drift in and out to spiritual effect while the warm beats roll deep. Shakers, lush pads and tropical melodies all bring the detail that makes this another standout cut.

With 'Ceremony,' Monkey Safari has already started to build anticipation for Body Language Vol. 24.

Grammy nominated engineer, producer and songwriter Steven Weston was brought up in Portsmouth, learning to play the organ as a kid, but an early obsession with electronic music soon had him trading it in for a set of turntables. At 18, he left for Spain, where he became a resident DJ on the Murcia coast. 

He’s been on the move ever since, touring the world playing keyboard for the likes of Ladyhawke, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko and UNKLE. He was also the first and lead bass player in The KLE side project Badger Kull and cut his teeth as an engineer at Metropolis and Strongroom studios in London, working many years with the bands Chronixx & Rudimental at their studio Major Toms in Hoxton.

His inaugural dance music release came in early 2021 with a remix of Catch Me When I Fall from the Ronin I mixtape, which saw great support from John Digweed. 

After launching his own imprint Blank Dust with two EPs, he went on to release on Sasha’s celebrated Last Night On Earth with ‘Liquid followed by his Anjunadeep debut March 31st with the first single from his forthcoming After the Flow EP, entitled ‘Like I Used To’, featuring vocals from British singer-songwriter Låpsley.

Stelios Vassiloudis is a multifaceted composer, producer and DJ hailing from Athens, Greece. Active in the electronic music since the early 2000s, he has cultivated a sound of his own - one that reflects his rich and diverse musical background, transcending the dance floor via an emotional narrative of complex soundscapes, intricate harmonies and hypnotic rhythms.

Classically trained, with a Bachelor’s degree in acoustical engineering and a Master’s degree in composition and arrangement, Stelios carved his path in electronic music by traversing the globe as a DJ and live performer - performing at intimate underground clubs in Beirut, festivals in Miami, afterhours in Tokyo, beaches in Goa and mega clubs in Argentina. Having shared the decks with everyone from Cubicolor to Martin Roth, and having a debut EP on Bedrock earlier this year, Canada's juSt b is swiftly becoming a name too hard to ignore. Her debut release on Balance delivers an exceptionally cerebral track that will sit flush in many sets. Also featured are four quality remixes that take in everything from deep techno, to breaks and more…

The deep beat on 'Light Sweeper' is undeniable with its mysterious energy. Glacial synths sweep the top end while being punctured by pondering piano stabs. There is bipolar nature to the production: warm and enveloping in the lows yet cold and wintry in the highs. It's a steady rhythm intent on intoxicating you.

The @audioglider remix reconstitutes the original into a thick, almost Amen breaks like direction. The synths are blown up to an optimal size and layered into a melodic sequence, keeping the original mystery. The breakdown is progressive house bliss, melancholy without being saccharine, before crashing back into the rhythm with added vocal by juSt b and soaring strings.

@jameswelsh's deep techno take is filled with percolating percussive hits and melodic arps weaving in and out of each other with total abandon. Featuring a considerably bigger kick, this is one to kickstart the main room.

The @mattrmusic remix starts off minimal with a deep meta physical engine, a hulking rhythm that slowly moves forward. Two separate breakdowns introduce a rising melody soaked in emotion, and the latter explodes into a 4/4 pattern that will sound divine on a dusty festival dancefloor.

If you're after the perfect opening track, look no further than the elegant remix from @ev3rsun. With its delightful opening 2 minute sequence, it is one part ambient and one part secret waiting to be told. It breaks into a gentle rhythm that sets the mood for what's to follow.

Kiz Pattison has teamed up with the vocal talents of Asyn, on his first solo release with us. Come A Bit Closer, is a stripped back progressive journey! Pattison has purposefully made Asyn’s airy vocal the star of the show. With added trademark effects running throughout, we think that Come A Bit Closer is Pattison’s best work to date.

Premiere: Armen Miran & Hraach - Inevitable Ending (Viken Arman & Goldcap Remix) [SolSelectas]

With The Quest, Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists across the world to bring these themes to life. 

Nhar (My Favorite Robot, Correspondant) is a consummate storyteller, and he opens the book with the glistening space tech of Navigli. This is quickly followed up by newcomer Dan Grassler, whose superb Going Back with US vocalist KnowKontrol is powerfully brooding and promises great things for the Munich-based producer.

The momentum picks up further with the standout Over My Head, a dark and delicious cut from two returning Chapter 24 artists, Alex Zed and Billie Fountain.

The label welcomes Teho and Machino for their inaugural releases on the imprint. Frenchman Teho (Herzblut, Parquet) serves up a double helping of delight with the skilfully crafted Back To The Forest and the tense tech house of Drunken Leads. Meanwhile, Machino (Desert Hearts), one of a new wave of Tijuana-based producers, showcases his unique blend of potent techno and ambient influences on Perdidos.

Finally, Melodule & Van Did bring the tales to a close with Téou, a dreamy, abstract piece that showcases wonky basslines, drifting pads and engaging sound design.

Hraach's "Burned the Strings" is a fine example of how deep beats, layered with his signature undertones, fuse with his Armenian roots.

The 11th release on Ploetzlich Musik is an experiment in which originals of the band Heartbeast have been given to artists who love to work with sounds of analog instruments. The results have been phenomenal. Heartbeast is a project with the singer and musician Nala at its center, telling her story. Enveloping this are two musicians and producers Janto Djassi and Helge Hasselberg. Their sound is unique and brings together vibes of Pop, Soul, Jazz, Hiphop and Punk in a dreamy and sometimes dark way.

It is the beginning of a new era. After moving to Berlin 1 and a half years ago, I had a long and difficult pause where I was simply figuring out life. And so, with it, Getting Deeper also went into hiding. Slowly but surely, with my own resurrection I am happy to resurrect Getting Deeper back into life. 

Marking the resurrection is this stunning Live set by Padouc. I don’t do Live sets very often, simply because I don’t get many submissions and also because it is very hard to find a good quality live set that is suitable as an online podcast; one that is fitting to the ears and headphones of those of us who are moving, pausing, and taking a break and sometimes spending secret, special moments of joy in our own little caves. 

So what makes this set so fitting and so special in its aliveness? It is simply as alive as a live set can get:  a post-electronic, psychedelic infusion of sublime and ethereal textures. Beautifully crafted, with a consistent and patient progression that will take you on a slow and transgressing journey of self-love (that’s if you enjoy it).
