Clocking in at first position on the triad’s debut volume, label habitué Sam Shure serves up a hi-pressure, Middle-Eastern-flavoured club epic for the opener. It may be often said, but when it comes to Argy ‘saving the best till last’ is most certainly true. After a monster year that saw him release the critically-acclaimed 'Interior Journey’ album, which included the breakout single ‘Ketuvim’, the mercurial producer now brings the project to a fitting finale with a full release dedicated to the club smash.

As with all the ‘Interior Journey’ remixes to date, the EP has been a process of careful A&R consideration as Argy explains, “We thought long and hard about who to invite on this EP. It was important we didn’t have a collection of remixes that were variations on the same theme, so I’m absolutely delighted with the results; we’ve ended-up with incredible reworks that cover
that essential trinity of MH&T, Indie and Electronica.” And what a trinity it is!

Ae:ther proves why he’s one of the most exciting prospects in melodic techno with a remix that deftly weaves peak time power with melodic beauty. “Argy and I were in close contact throughout the production,” he explains, “unlike other remixes, the creative process came together very quickly; I immediately realised I wanted to create a ‘crescendo’ track. I had real fun re-imagining the deeper roots of the renowned original into something more melodic and cosmic, which is exactly what he wanted.”

Next, the track gets the indie treatment from two of the genre’s most revered exponents, Chaim and Jenia Tarsol. The duo are very close friends of Argy and actually had a preview of ‘The Interior Journey’ album before most, which they happily admit, “When Argy played us the album pre-release we asked if we could remix ‘Ketuvim’ straight away. At that time we had
no idea the original was going to go on to become a summer breakthrough, it just leapt out at us. We immediately knew we could do something cool and interesting with it.”

Electronica honours go to Italy’s fastest-rising duo, Glowal and, once again, the remix was a result of close collaboration, “Argy and Renaissance set us a challenge with the remix,” they confirm, “they already had the other remixes under commission, so specifically asked us to put our breaks hat on, which as our fans may know, are partial to anyway. We’re really happy with how it turned out.

Pete Tong, recently awarded the Music Industry Trust Award in recognition of outstanding contribution, is fair to say has been electronic music’s foremost global ambassador. So, it’s fitting he’s looked overseas, specifically Russia, on his latest collaboration to join forces with Goom Gum, a duo who are now at the vanguard of the country’s burgeoning dance scene.

Pete explains how the project came about, “I’d been a growing fan of Goom Gum and ended up signing their re-version of Depeche Modes’ ‘Master & Servant’ to TSZ Recordings, a new label I started in 2019. Just before the pandemic the guys sent me a rough sketch of ‘Signal’ and asked if I wanted to collaborate. After playing it out a few times and adding some ideas and arrangement changes, I dropped it in Tulum and the crowd went crazy, which I was grateful to experience because it was one of my last big shows before lockdown.”

“We’re delighted Pete came onboard for ‘Signal’”, Goom Gum continue, “His support of our work has been amazing, but to get to actually work together was beyond our wildest expectations. His experience and insight helped craft the track into a total dancefloor bomb. We’ve been road testing it at our gigs lately and, trust us, it works!”

But the track’s evolution doesn’t end there. Inspired by the Tulum party, Pete hit upon the idea of creating a version dedicated to the Mexican clubbing mecca at, of all places, a dinner party! “At my house in LA we had a Moroccan room and my wife used to throw these incredible soirées. One night we even had a belly dancer and an amazing percussionist called Marc El Khouri. I played him ‘Signal’ (he loved it) and asked him to record some authentic percussion and tabla sounds inspired by my DJ set - and the Tulum version was born!”, he exclaims.

The project’s global theme is enhanced further with remixes from Berlin’s Anja Schneider and another fast-rising Russian star, Bora Uzer. Anja displays real studio prowess by delivering two different remixes, the electronica inspired ‘Break The Signal’ alongside a wonderfully warm ‘Deep Code’ version, which returns to 4/4 and a sound redolent of clubbing in the German capital; whilst Bora’s mix injects a real dose of energy and emotion to further cement its peak time credentials.

“We’re so happy to finally release ‘Signal’”, Pete and Goom Gum conclude in unison, “we had nowhere to play it for 18 months so can’t wait to get it out there.”

Since Biesmans made his debut on AEON last year with his “A Long Road” EP, he has continued to build a profile and musical output that is both exciting and ground breaking. So it’s with great pleasure that we welcome him back to the label for his follow up EP “Top Gun”

Biesmans has decided to showcase two subtly different versions of the title track “Top Gun”. Version 1 is a stunningly produced lo-fi disco workout with nod to 80’s synth classics. A dynamic bass line underpins a delightfully simple but effective groove and delicious melodies. Version 2 is similar in it’s approach but is perhaps a little more strident. Biesmans said “I often make several versions of a track when I’m writing and then focus in on a particular version. In this case I couldn’t decide so I figured let’s release both!'
“Dr Electric” is a more melancholy in it’s approach, with a broken beat, subtle synths and vocodered vocals taking centre stage, with almost blissful prog rock leanings in places.

Remix duties are taken up by Permanent Vacation head honcho and AEON favorite Benjamin Fröhlich and Italian duo Phunkadelica.
Both have chosen to tackle “Dr Electric” and the results are sublime. Fröhlich’s approach stays closest to the original but employs a tougher breakbeat as the foundation for his version, borrowing heavily from the synth content before delivering a driving bass line to take the track into peak time territory. Phunkadelica’s more traditional progressive house style treatment serves up a more hypnotic mix with a galloping baseline and an ever evolving layered style that draws in the listener until a breakdown delivers the spin tingling moments.

Another perfectly balanced EP from the AEON crew with something to satisfy all palates.

Grasping 2020 as the year to remember, we are unfolding 2021 with the highly-anticipated release from our Argentian friends Bridado Crew & Ubbah, who already shared their musical ideas with the remarkable split releases on Eleatics in 2018. This time Brigado Crew duo, who has already released their music via Diynamic, Stil Vor Talent and Eklektisch, joins Ubbah for 'Too Late' EP. The main track 'Too Late' is a driving banger, which is extensively concentrating ones' attention with the effective and bursting bass-line and low-end work. Vocals from the Australian singer Winnick are becoming the epicentre of the dynamic and explosive track, which will lit the focus of those, who love the floor-working things. Random synth playouts altogether with the noticeably working bass sounds plus the standalone Winnick's vocals takeover certainly bring the feeling of the energy. French producer Damon Jee had a fruitful 2020 year with the releases on Correspondant, Critical Monday and Fine Human from a few to mention, which led him to be one of the most sold artists of Indie Dance genre on Beatport. Known for his dark-disco brand style, Damon is shaping his remix catching the laid-back groove around main sounds from the original track multiplied with the dark-disco sound inherent to the remixers' sound. 'Time Moves On' has a very symbolic name. Mellow and palatable vocals alongside the melodic leitmotiv of the track are certainly bringing the right mood. Doctor Dru is the artist known for us since the previous decade. Releasing with Diynamic, Mobilee, Flying Circus and his own Jeudi Records, Doctor Dru has always been a figure to watch.
