Releases rarely come much bigger than this. When Cypherpunx (aka Flip Fantazia) submitted ‘Alien’ to Renaissance HQ we had that instant reaction; it was a record we had to sign. But this should come as little surprise, the pedigree behind it is immense - Cypherpunx have a CV that already includes Crosstown Rebels, Bedrock and GU. One half of the duo, NOLAN, recently featured on Sasha’s LUZoSCURA album and has upcoming releases on Mobilee, LNOE and Rebellion; plus - as if that weren’t enough - the vocals come from none other than Sian Evans of Kosheen, who arrives hot off a Beatport number 1 with Tinlicker’s re-work of ‘Hide U’. 

“I know it’s been said before lately, but ‘Alien’ is yet another pandemic baby,” explains NOLAN, “having still not met in person, a mutual friend hooked us up with Sian who was into our sound and happy to come up with some killer top-line vocals for a few of the tracks we sent over to her in Bristol. Alien fitted perfectly.” 

“Despite not having a conventional song structure with a chorus as such, and with guidance from Renaissance to take it slightly darker to counter Sian’s instantly recognisable voice, we felt very excited with the finished product”, says Doug, the other half of Cypherpunx.

And it is for this reason one of the world’s biggest producers signed-on to remix it - Sébastien Léger. “I haven’t done a remix for 2 years, which isn’t for a lack of offers, I just need to be able to hear the potential and Sian’s vocal really swung it,” he confirms, “I instantly knew I’d be able to do something unique”, which we think is a bit of an understatement to say the least as it’s an absolute whopper of a track, set to become one of summer’s standout anthems. “I’ve been road-testing it at my recent return gigs and based on the reactions from the dancefloor it looks promising!”, he says humbly.

After several appearances on compilations, Aiwaska strikes back to Bar 25 Music with a solo release. Well, not exactly solo but in a brilliant company of vocalist Robert Owens, a pioneer of house music, singing for producers from Larry Heard to David Guetta since ’80s.

The ¨Other Side¨ track will see the light along with a Remix by legendary Audiofly. The Duo was formed by producers Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito. With 13 years of creative partnership, it seems they are always cooking the next frontier of an all involving melancholic extremely balanced sound. Their point of view on the track is as thrilling as the original itself.

Stay is a dynamic album with influences spanning from Acid House (Fearless), to Italo Disco (Pepper), to 90s Warp Records (Loved You). On Stay, Joseph Ashworth presents a focused and considered body of work that displays a wealth of growth from his last full-length release Grain, released in 2015.

The original intention wasn't to record a full-length album. An opportunity arose to create an AI project (AIMI) where elements of his unreleased work would be re-interpreted by machine learning to generate an ever-evolving music experience. This inspired Joseph to bring together years' worth of music for listeners interested in the cutting edge of technology, but also reminded Joseph of his love of the traditional 'album' format. So throughout 2021, and with less travel, Joseph created 10 tracks and meticulously edited and arranged them into a fluid, engaging listening experience.

Joseph comments, "Stay is the connection of ten tracks I started over the past five years. Time and patience were key in the recording process, with an aim to make each track as unique and emotionally vivid as possible".

The first track Kings, revolves around melancholy piano chords, propped up by crisp percussion and rich swells of string and synth pads - it outlines the album’s ambitious level of experimentation from the get-go. Then there’s the disco-tinged and synth-laden Fearless, while Carbonated leans towards techno; a flowing staccato synth line and a swampy, deep bass, which offers a stark contrast to the beautiful stripped back ambient track that follows, Dressed Up.

The first single to be released from the LP, Pepper breaches full club-pumper territory, with an Italo-esque synth lead, chunky, forceful kicks and a chugging bassline. Loved You features metallic chords and an alien vocal that guides the listener through a rich sonic landscape and is reminiscent of the works of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. It’s another landmark long player from one of electronic music’s most interesting talents.

Stay takes the listener on a deep and stimulating journey, and although each of the tracks could hold their own as individuals, the album as a whole is lovingly crafted, expertly sequenced and could only be achieved by an artist with a true passion for their music.

Joseph Ashworth’s highly acclaimed releases on Life & Death, Get Weird, Pets, ELEMENTS, and Needwant have helped him grow a reputable fanbase on both sides of the Atlantic, receiving support from all corners of the electronic music scene including Lee Burridge, Jonas Rathsman, DJ Tennis, Patrice Baumel, Kolsch and many more. As a performer Joseph is a unique, exciting and versatile DJ which has seen him play extended sets at the likes of CRSSD Festival and Printworks as well tours of the Far East and North America.

A new artist collective will be gracing the nightlife scene this April, as five of melodic dance music’s leading talents combine their efforts under a single, unified banner. Emanuel Satie, Maga, Sean Doron, Tim Engelhardt and Yulia Niko make up Scenarios, the collective, record label and event series. The label’s inaugural release takes the form of the two-track Here To Stay EP. The first instalment sees three of the five members collaborate on Here To Stay, a meandering, emotionally-charged offering packed full of poignant chords and textured drum patterns throughout. It feels introspective and danceable in one, paving the way for a similarly moving number in the form of You & I, Paradise. This time DUDDHA’s mesmeric vocals create an achingly beautiful soundscape, one that winds with a gentle lucidity through resonant synths and a driving lead bassline. Individually, they are known as Maga, Sean Doron, Yulia Niko, Tim Engelhardt and Emanuel Satie, each of whom are established performers in their own right. Together, they become Scenarios. Their mantra is simple: to create and implement a unique genre of music, one that offers an unparalleled event experience. As a collective, their beliefs and outlooks are shared - allowing them to truly grow as one whilst maintaining their individuality as independent artists. HOKI - Three (Death On The Balcony Extended Remix)

'Israel-born but New York-based duo DJ Tomer and Ricardo land on connected with an enchanting new single that comes with remixes from Atmos Blaq and BadBox.

DJ Tomer and Ricardo started working together on Afro house productions in 2019 and since then have made a big impact with their deep, detailed sound. It usually involves strong vocal collaborations and has garnered high-profile support from peers such as Themba, Black Coffee and Shimza.

Their superb single here 'Sweet Poison' features the beautiful vocals of New York-based up-and-coming singer-songwriter Zoya. It's a rolling, immersive house track with dramatic arrangements, spine tinging breakdowns and musical drops all finished off with passionate melodies that lodge deep in the brain.

Soweto-born Atmos Blaq is an Afro house mainstay with credits on labels like Get Physical, Nervous and My Other Side of the Moon. His remix brings a more dusty and low-key approach with a strong hypnotic beat and enticing atmospheres that draw you in with their warmth.
Last of all, London-based artist Badbox - known for his Black Coffee and Blue Marlin residencies - remixes. His version has an equally powerful emotional focus with mini arpeggiators flicking the vocals into orbit as low-slung bass synths set a deep mood. The beautiful vocal is the fantastic final touch.

All three of these tracks offer powerful house music excursions.'

Xplauziv - Depth Of Groove (J A K Remix)

For their next trick, the RADIANT. label offers up some fantastic remixes of tracks from label boss Sabb’s recent LP in the form of a 2 parter. Stepping up with their own spin are Super Flu, Roy Rosenfeld, Re.You and Armonica. 

The esteemed German duo Super Flu are first and flip Jeopardized into nine deep and moody minutes of atmospheric grooves. It’s a supple bassline that gurgles down low as brighter synths light things from above. Curious and intriguing throughout it really keeps you locked in. Roy Rosenfeld goes for something more summery, with his spine tingling deep house remix and gorgeous chords on a vital rework of Full Moon Tale ft DAVÍ.

Re.You is another celebrated tech artist who goes for a tribal version of Leanas Play that slowly awakens with broad synths and organic found sounds. It’s a spiritual track that strikes a poignant mood, while Armonica goes for a spine tingling, celestial version of Motherlove that is all glowing chords and rich melodies. Last of all, Super Flu turns out an Instrumental Mix of Jeopardized that is stripped back and shuffling, with a warped bassline and suggestive little chord progressions.

These are essential remixes and a second volume will follow later in summer.
