Hypnos is characterized by a sinuous fluctuation of intensity that reflects how humans experience the textures of life. PAAX (Tulum)’s second E.P. on Scorpios Music looks to the varying energies of the everyday and transposes them for the dancefloor, with the occasional reference to Spanish and Latin culture. Instrumental flair comes from revered names such as Daniel Herranz Gómez and Nelson Williams. Introspective yet with the sun’s movements in mind, Hypnos contributes to the richness of life from which it draws inspiration.

The E.P.’s eponymous track Hypnos manages to somehow unravel itself from a progressive beginning to a less serious, groove-driven end. Pianos and synths hop around and the bass shakes shoulders, but it’s hard to put a finger on exactly what’s dictating the shift in tone across the track. Animalistic, melodic, and paving the way for the E.P’s trancey culmination, Hypnos emerges from the depths of pure and organic rhythm, makes an indecipherable expression, and then disappears again.

Stay is a dynamic album with influences spanning from Acid House (Fearless), to Italo Disco (Pepper), to 90s Warp Records (Loved You). On Stay, Joseph Ashworth presents a focused and considered body of work that displays a wealth of growth from his last full-length release Grain, released in 2015.

The original intention wasn't to record a full-length album. An opportunity arose to create an AI project (AIMI) where elements of his unreleased work would be re-interpreted by machine learning to generate an ever-evolving music experience. This inspired Joseph to bring together years' worth of music for listeners interested in the cutting edge of technology, but also reminded Joseph of his love of the traditional 'album' format. So throughout 2021, and with less travel, Joseph created 10 tracks and meticulously edited and arranged them into a fluid, engaging listening experience.

Joseph comments, "Stay is the connection of ten tracks I started over the past five years. Time and patience were key in the recording process, with an aim to make each track as unique and emotionally vivid as possible".

The first track Kings, revolves around melancholy piano chords, propped up by crisp percussion and rich swells of string and synth pads - it outlines the album’s ambitious level of experimentation from the get-go. Then there’s the disco-tinged and synth-laden Fearless, while Carbonated leans towards techno; a flowing staccato synth line and a swampy, deep bass, which offers a stark contrast to the beautiful stripped back ambient track that follows, Dressed Up.

The first single to be released from the LP, Pepper breaches full club-pumper territory, with an Italo-esque synth lead, chunky, forceful kicks and a chugging bassline. Loved You features metallic chords and an alien vocal that guides the listener through a rich sonic landscape and is reminiscent of the works of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. It’s another landmark long player from one of electronic music’s most interesting talents.

Stay takes the listener on a deep and stimulating journey, and although each of the tracks could hold their own as individuals, the album as a whole is lovingly crafted, expertly sequenced and could only be achieved by an artist with a true passion for their music.

Joseph Ashworth’s highly acclaimed releases on Life & Death, Get Weird, Pets, ELEMENTS, and Needwant have helped him grow a reputable fanbase on both sides of the Atlantic, receiving support from all corners of the electronic music scene including Lee Burridge, Jonas Rathsman, DJ Tennis, Patrice Baumel, Kolsch and many more. As a performer Joseph is a unique, exciting and versatile DJ which has seen him play extended sets at the likes of CRSSD Festival and Printworks as well tours of the Far East and North America.

Anjunadeep and All Day I Dream artist David Orin puts his deft touch to HOKI's 'Growing Young'. The New York-based producer has been on a prolific run of late with a string of standout releases and remixes. His latest piece for the rising indie electronic duo continues that rich vein of form. Premiere: HOKI - Growing Young (David Orin Extended Remix)

'We are happy to present DSF on Zenebona. He is more than just an artist for us. He is a friend of the label and the Hungarian organic house community too. It is a big honor to release a track that is dedicated to the 102 victims of a forest fire that reached the town of Mati in Greece in the summer of 2018.   Due to this huge tragedy, the track is full of emotions presented in the unique style of the well-known and beloved Greek producer DSF (All I Dream, Vaults). That incident touched DSF deeply, so he decided to express his emotions in his own artistic way.   The release has two remixes, one made by Savvas who is also from Greece. He made an amazing trippy tune in his own signature style.   The other remixer is the label owner Peter Makto. He got the remix request from DSF as another personal link between the two friends. Peter’s remix has a bit more progressive house feel merged with his own individual organic sound.'

Niko Schwind and Robbie Akbal team up in Berlin last year during a few studio sessions collaborating with Ay Sarita to wrap a powerful organic anthem called ¨Caminando de Noche¨ filled with mystic elements and driving music .

It was a great tune featured in our 15 years of Akbal Music compilation, that we asked Noraj Cue and Landikhan , some amazing producers at the moment to remix the track.

Noraj Cue from Happy Campers and Tale & Tone delivers a fat groover with shinny melodic elements & epic journey on the breakdown playing nicely with the vocal and some quirky sounds finalizing a great arrangement.

Landikhan from Spain delivers a more mid tempo indie disco ish vibes oriented remix very groovy and full of great sounds that will make some magic all around.
Such a wonderful pair of remixes, we are more than excited to welcome this two hyper talented producers to the Akbal Music family.

The latest offering from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint finds the label showcasing new interpretations of Mariner + Domingo's ‘Inertia'. Released in September of last year and played by Sebastian Leger and Tim Green, the two-track showcase proved to be one of the defining releases in what was a standout year for the American duo. Now bringing new life to the well-received EP, Sound Avenue invites Powel, Tristan Case & Tom Barlow and Orange & Indigo to re-imagine the tracks for 2022. 

Returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of ‘I Still Remember' is Powel. With a career that now spans over a decade, Berlin based artist Powel has continued to delight organic house aficionados with his releases via All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep and more. As a favourite of the genre's tastemakers, Powel made his Sound Avenue debut in 2019 with a gorgeous rendition of ‘Pearl' by Paula OS. A groovy yet impassioned take on the track that earned praise from Eelke Kleijn, Nick Warren, Modd, Roy Rosenfeld and Sasha. Now following the release of his latest Do Not Sit On The Furniture vehicle ‘Back To The Beginnings', Powel returns to Sound Avenue with a heartfelt interpretation of ‘I Still Remember'. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and groovy bliss, it's a version equally at home above a daytime dance floor or sitting in the emotional sweet spot of an end of the night scenario. Captivating and poignant in equal measure, it's playful nature only furthers Powel's uncanny ability to achieve natural elegance and tasteful patience through his music.

As the spring soars into supreme summer, we’re thrilled to welcome Eduardo McGregor back to TOR for his second EP on the imprint. The Mexican maestro has graced the likes of All Day I Dream, Sudbeat, TRYBESof, Tale & Tone and Kindisch, showcasing a knack for global grooves, percussive rhythms, and rich melodies. He’s a unique talent within dance music - a multi instrumentalist, composer, and educator. McGregor’s true musicianship brings distinct quality to his productions, as we witnessed via his ‘I Fall EP’ which debuted on TOR last year. Continuing explorations into original organic territories, McGregor floats even higher with the Tal Vez Soñar.

The A-side opens with rotating rhythms and deep ambiance, shifting effortlessly through melodic moods.
