Always in the underground, he sporadically gives us masterpieces of IHM (Intelligent House Music). An hypnotic voice with warm drums accompanied by dreamy melodies characterise the ep's main track, while the remix assigned to the 'mind behind the project' Marco Dassi gives it that danceable touch in a Lo-Fi key.

From the quietly tended gardens of a Milanese aesthete, we present the latest bouquet of soft-focus house from Italy's local legend Robotalco.

Robotalco touts a strong catalogue of electronics through outlets like 100% Silk, On The Prowl, Unfullfillment and fellow Italian imprints GetWet and This Is Not; we now welcome another peek into his kaleidoscopic practice, preening and cultivating the dream of house with his own tools.

"House Of Roses" amalgamates the styles Robotalco has previously explored: daydream dub, post-disco acid, Italian dream house and more immediate hits of club-focused dance trips. The title track begets a classic, cloud-spotted kinship to labels of yore like Vibraphone; light and groovy, unhurried and melancholic with a signature brass melody and finger bass combo. On the other leaf we have the standout "Space Congas" with frequent collaborator Fontaneto, a break-centric waft of vocal stabs and sparkling pads underpinned by a round, bouncing sub.

Through an introspective gauze of ambience and drum machines we receive another intoxicating whiff from one of Milan's steadily growing stars. Tend to your roses and your house will follow...

Yaxche is the ancient and mysterious tree of birth, life, and knowledge in Mayan culture, from which the world's energy and wisdom flow.

The idea behind this album was born from an endless archive of layered tracks stored on Robotalco’s hard drive over the years, spanning from 2017 to 2024. This selection process reflects a clear eclecticism in the exploration of sounds and arrangements, seamlessly transitioning from classic house tracks to jazzy ambient, downtempo, Latin influences, dub techno inspirations, and beyond.

The album opens with a dreamy interlude titled DAILY OVERSIGHT, a captivating introduction that leads us into 5 AM ACTION DUB, a perfect after-hours track with dubby, immersive rhythms that take us on a true sonic journey.

Next comes YAXCHE, an ancestral Latin-electronic ballad that gives the album its name. STEPPER, on the other hand, is essentially a dub-electro track, yet it places us in a dreamlike atmosphere.

WANT ME, NEED ME stands out with its deep-house sound, enriched by tribal elements and the signature characteristics of the album, such as flutes, congas, and raw percussion.

SPACE NIMBUS almost brings the album to a close with a soft, expansive downtempo dreamscape, as if floating through space. Finally, the skit MONDAY MEMORIES OF YOU gently guides us towards the end, leaving us in a psychedelic chill-out mood!

Robotalco - Yaxche LP [flex027 - snippets]

Getwet comes back with the second release, after a very well received first 12" who got played in some of the most forward thinking dancefloors in EU, Japan and USA. 

The opener is a majestic track from The Caribbean House, side project of Billy Bogus teamed up with Federico Bologna, from seminal Technogod and Ohmega Tribe project, and Cristiano Santini, from legendary italian act Disciplinatha. What came out is an outstanding blend of new wave & slow motion disco, strictly for midnight vultures.

Fake Congas is a spin off project by Robotalco (Sebastiano Urciuoli) and Mouth (Luca Fontaneto), bringing all their childhood memories to life again with some analog machines and an internet connection. Lots of references to old house, soft pads breezy synths and a very distinctive touch from two of the most underrated names in the italian panorama for what might be the new sound in a stale scene. Jot their name down now before it is too late.

Two Thousand is the stage name of italian born-berlin based artist Luca Murgia, already known to some for some dope releases and tracks in the past. Here he shows a very interesting concept that gels perfectly with the music, for what we might call a very sophisticated rendition of the new house music of the years to come. Modern crispy production skills serve a very growing and mid paced music that can be equally satisfying in a club or in your headphones.

Mouth is Luca Fontaneto, very reserved producer with some releases on cult labels like Mad On The Moon and Backyard Recs. He keeps doing what he always did. Weird, Out of tune with the industry House music that is going to be understood posthumous, as all geniuses. 
This track is a mix of his major influences that is to say, house, boogie and d.i.y. recording techniques.

As the saying goes, we didn't change the winning team, and all songs have been sent up north in Amsterdam for a make up mastering session at Nachtlab by Professor Maspaventi.
