In December 1987, for the BBC Today Programme, I interviewed the amazing Barry Humphries in his dressing room at the Strand Theatre. He agreed to play -- simultaneously -- the roles of both Dame Edna and Sir Les Patterson. Each character interrupted the other, and I was left largely an amused observer to the impromptu exchanges, getting the odd "loving" tease from Dame Edna! 33 years on, I find my own voice very "Pathe" and old-style BBC! The interview went out just before Christmas in the 0750 slot on the Today Programme. The presenter introducing the item was Brian Redhead, and John Humphrys back-anno'd it.
