My first experiment using the Xaoc Devices Odessa (solo), additive synthesis oscillator. Through the Katowice stereo band isolator to tame the high frequencies a bit. Straight into the Meris Polymoon for epic reverb. 
Odessa is modulated by 4 different sources, three envelopes (looping) and 1 LFO.  It sounds as if it is alive, very interesting, gorgeous.
Thunderstorm and rain recordings from recent storms here in the Netherlands.

Odessa First Try01 In Mix with Prophet Rev2

While reading the book "The Black Swan" - the impact of the highly improbable, I felt really inspired creating another track based on the Odessa. This time in combination with the Strymon StarLab. The track starts with Odessa and StarLab, followed by one of my Prophet X patches, the rhythmic element is coming from a patch I created on the Hydrasynth. I am hoping the track expresses the unexpectedness, unpredictability of live with still keeping some musical sensibility.

A Flock Of Black Swans

Quickly put together track featuring the Expressive E Osmose that arrived today. I wanted to investigate how well the Osmose fits in a mix together with the Prophet Rev2, the Digitone and some Eurorack (Captain Big'o + Doepfer A 106-5 SEM + Black Stereo Delay + Z5000 reverb). Rev2 is playing the background drone (on hold), Digitone and Captain Big'o sequenced by the Digitone). Recorded in one take directly into Bitwig. Some EQ on Osmose and mastering through Ozone 9.

Slowly improving my playing skills, starting to put some emotion into my playing style. This is a very simple sequence of chords (my homework). Playing the "replicants dream" preset on the Osmose, with the mod slider half open. Meris Polymoon is providing the delay/reverb. One take recording, played manually.

In this "homework" track I am using the Osmose to control "itself" and the Hydrasynth. In Bitwig post processing I faded either the Osmose or the Hydra audio so it is easier to hear what instrument is playing.

Track starts with one Instruo Troika oscillator, filtered by Mr Philter with delay from the Nostalgia. The Hydrasynh is in full "MPE"  mode using a patch I created from scratch. The amp envelopes are controlled by the key press (channel pressure/poly aftertouch) on the Osmose. 

Next the Osmose comes in where I play factory patch "classicana lead", with the "glide" set to 1 semitone. 
Second time around I added the second Troika oscillator, through Forbidden Planet filter.

The track finishes with the Hydrasynth patch. It is truly awesome to control the envelopes by playing style!

Both Troika oscillators  have a bit of TC Electronics M300 reverb added, Osmose with Lexicon MX400 reverb, Hydrasynth as is (used build in effects)

Mastered in Bitwig using Ozone 9.

Learning To Play The Osmose 3b

In this track I am using the Sequential Pro 3, the ASM Hydrasynth and the Osmose (Eaganmatrix) together. Recorded "live" in one take in my home studio. Sequencing of Hydra and Pro 3 by Cirklon.

Hydrasynth opens with bass, where filter cutoff is modulated semi-randomly from the Cirklon. Next in line is the Pro 3 with a patch inspired by my partner learning to play her didgeridoo. .

All sounds programmed by myself. The Eaganmatrix patch is a noise source sent through the BigBank quad-filter. Lots of experimentation resulted in a breathy, flute like, patch that sounds definitely spooky in the lower registers. Additional reverb effect on Osmose audio provided by Lexicon MX400.

Live studio recording, one take, featuring DeepMind 12D, Pro3 and Osmose.
DM 12D and Pro3 sequenced by the Cirklon. Osmose played "manually", starting the simple melodic theme. 

The bespoke Osmose patch is using the Eaganmatrix Bigmouth bi-quad bandpass filter algorithm, making a kind of Mellotron style sound.

DM12 and Pro 3 using on-board effects, the Osmose uses an onboard fast delay (for some chorus effect) and a bit of Lexicon MX400 reverb is added to the Osmose also.

Very flimsy and simple track to demo the EaganMatrix module patch called Gezz_Simple_Since_Bank1. Not my best muscial work, but first time using the Eaganmatrix module.

Eaganmatrix module is modulated by the Cirklon:

CV 1 (pitch info) -> X
CV 5 (envelope) -> Z
CV 6 (envelope) -> i 
CV 7 (envelope) -> ii
Macro's iii and iv I adjusted manually.

Also featuring a custom patch for the Sequential (DSI) Rev2 and a bass patch I created on the Digitone many moons ago.

EaganMatrix Module GezzSimpleSineBank01

Experimentation with Eaganmatrix Eurorack module "Dolce Cristallo Space", slight adjustments to the macros together with a patch I created for the Sequential Rev2 (dual layer).
Eganmatrix module is sequenced by the Cirklon via MIDI (poly-phonically), Rev2 is played by myself based on my homework assignment (are you listening Thanos?). Meris Polymoon is providing some gentle reverb and chorus to the Rev2.
Recording on Zoom Livetrak L-20, mixing and in Bitwig, mastering Ozone 9.

Learning to play the Osmose now controlling the Odessa Eurorack module. The Osmose over USB connected to the Expert Sleepers FH-2 (plus a CV expansion), 10 CV outs from the FH-2 to the Odessa, the HEL extender (CV for notes) and the high CV input of the Katowice. 
CC74 (Osmose MPE aftertouch) is used to modulate several parameters. With round robin note priority it is not possible to predict which finger playing on the Osmose is modulating what parameter, this produces amazing results, not reproducible.

Experimenting with Osmose patch "Jenny Pulse", simple minor key melody playing with right hand. Left hand adjusting the speed macro. Osmose audio also sent through customer patch at Lexicon MX400 (in parallel) to enhance presence and stereo field. Hydrasynth plays ominous bass sound (custom patch), Sequential Pro3 plays background pad (custom patch), further made "digital" sounding with my old Midiverb II (patch 28) and finally DSI Evolvers (custom patch) used to add additional rhythm using it's excellent weird delay circuits.

The Osmose 'stellaris' factory patch, slightly adjusted with the filter macro. Ambient effect produced by routing the stereo audio to Eurorack through the Erica Synth Black Stereo Delay and mixing in the output of the Strymon Starlab. 
Live played, recorded in one take in the studio. Recording of thunder and rain added in post (it felt good adding this!), mixing in Bitwig mastering Ozone 9.

Learning To Play The Osmose 14

My first patch with the Eaganmatrix Wavebank instrument / oscillator. Because I liked the sound of this patch very much, I had to create a small musical experiment in C minor. 

The track is a direct recording, live, in my studio. Osmose (Eaganmatrix) patch played manually. 

Prophet Rev2, providing the rhythmic part. This is also a bespoke patch, with a teeny bit of reverb from a Lexicon MX400). Sequenced by the Cirklon programmed by me. 

Post processing in Bitwig with a little bit of EQ and Ozone 9 mastering.

Learning to play the Osmose 15

A very simple experimental track based on a 3 second (personally recorded) sample of one of the bells of the "Lieve Vrouwe" tower in Amersfoort. The bell sample is processed by the Loris Synth app and processed into an EaganMatrix analysis which is then used as patch for the Osmose / Eaganmatrix. The Prophet Rev2 provides the bass and flute like sounds. Rev2 is sequenced by the Cirklon, Osmose is played by "hand".

The Korg Microstation is an interesting beast, I finally managed using the Korg editor to get a proper "analog" sounding saw out of it (around 2:14) and use it's multimode system. I am in two minds about it, I do love the Korg sound, I don't like the user interface one bit. Quite a happy song, although I wanted some dissonance, which hopefully the lower growl (a Bitwig synth voice)

My very first attempt to compose a track without a computer. The Elektron Digitone is doing the sequencing and all FM sounds. External synths are the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet Rev2 and Evolver Desktop.

Evolver audio is routed through the Digitone, with delay effect from Digitone and reverb modulated also from Digitone. Rev2 audio on it's own, no external effects.

No post  eq or compression applied, sound as is directly recorded into Audacity.
