Libel is New York City’s proudest purveyors of Protoglam, a delicate concoction of vintage Bowie, post-hardcore and a touch of shoegaze. Basically imagine if the Thin White Duke walked into an early 90s Fugazi show and said, “Guys, this is great, but you need more effects pedals.” Full-length “Comfort in the Noise,” released in 2016, captures both the band’s musical ambitions and songwriting prowess, balancing dual guitar pyrotechnics and solid hooks with fat grooves thanks to the tighter-than-tight rhythm section.

Sun Machines make a splashy return to the pop scene with Supersonic Sons, the follow up to their 2014 EggHunt Records debut, Human Subjects. Multi-instrumentalists J. Forté and Gregory Gendron explore richer textures and deeper soundscapes on this epic synthpop space opera, which continues the interstellar tale first introduced on Human Subjects. As told through the lens of an unnamed protagonist, Supersonic Sons’ ten eclectic songs weave a story of one man’s psychological and technological challenges as he embarks upon a dangerous trip back home. Sounds of the 80s, 90s, 00s, and beyond infiltrate Supersonic Sons, which features a dose of guitar flash, a mixture of innovative live and programmed drums, a bevy of synthesizers, and ample vocal harmonies. Supersonic Sons was produced using a variety of recording mediums (cassette tape, iPad, computer hard drive) in a variety of locations (from Washington, DC, to Tokyo, Japan).

Light Arms is a band from Washington, DC, consisting of J. Forte (Bass/Guitars/Vocals), Greg Gendron (Drums), Tim Ramnitz (Guitars/Vocals) and, Ryan Stubbs (Guitars/Bass/Vocals).  

Washington, DC, indie quartet Light Arms reference three decades of guitar rock in four-minute bursts. Featuring three singers, buzzing guitars, metronomic bass, kinetic drumming, and a diverse collection of tunes.

Light Arms was formed in the Spring of 2013 when drummer Greg Gendron returned to DC from Japan and began working on tunes with a pair of singer/guitarists, Ryan Stubbs and Tim Ramnitz, former band-mates while the two studied in Boulder, Colorado. Ramnitz had been haunting the ghosts of DC rock present in Space for Space, while recent District arrival Stubbs came from a number of prominent bands in the burgeoning Denver indie scene. The gents called in Greg's former Secret Pop Band band-mate, the multi-instrumentalist J. Forte to fill out the group on bass. Mixing common influences such as Guided by Voices, the Replacements, KISS, and classic guitar pop with lo-fi DIY sensibilities, Light Arms aim to play quality music for quality people, perhaps melting a few quality hearts along the way.
