Ausura Akhi Amen was born in (Happy Hill) Mobile, Al. Raised in Dallas, Tx. Became a man in Chicago, Il He has lived life soulfully, while trying to maintain some balance in life... He began singing at a very young age. Like many African Americans kids back in the day. This was a very small tight knit community back then. However in this small area, at one time there was four different churches. " I’ve sang  at'em all. I sung at the Fellowship, Macedonia, Salvation, Greater , 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Baptist, AME, CME, Zion Church.

Back in the day, if he was not singing in the church, the street lights was his spotlight. In my first quartet group, we sung on a Easter Sundays, i might have been 6 or 7. We got a great response. From that performance I knew I wanted to do something music. So when I got to grade school i joined the string section. I choose the violin. For some reason most of that experience is vague in memory.

My musical influences included the classic soul singers like Jackie Wilson, Sam Cook, and Otis Redding. And gospel luminaries like the late-great Rev. James Cleveland, Joe Ligon, and Audrey Crouch.
