Northstar are a Leicester duo who formed in 2017 to create jangly music about love and life. Heavily influenced by The Byrds, REM, The Smiths and Glen Campbell, the songs reflect a mature outlook on love and loss, tinged with a West Coast feel and a northern sensibility. 

The Willson EP, released on October 11th 2019, was recorded and produced by Rick Willson, formerly of epic 90s Leicester band Diesel Park West at his studios in Anstey, Leicestershire. 

The songs reflect a variety of influences, from the California soundscape of All the Years, through a pared back acoustic sound on Friday 9pm, to the almost Spectorish epic qualities of Ghost Within my Heart. 

Gigging locally in Leicestershire, England, the band is developing both covers and originals for a variety of venues and occasions. Covers include There is a Light that Never Goes Out, by the Smiths, Turn, Turn, Turn, by the Byrds, and Emmylou by First Aid Kit. The current originals set list has 16 songs worked up over the 18 months of the band's existence. All songs have words and music by Northstar, with Darren's guitar work creating atmospheric, dramatic soundscapes.
