BRIAK LIVE FB MIX #APRIL 30TH 2021

It’s Funkier Radio’s second birthday! Hard to believe it’s two years since I started this little show, and I’m still loving the opportunity to spread a little musical happiness every 2 weeks. Hour 1 is standard Funkier Radio fare, with a few promos and new bits, some dusty old oddities, edits, reworks, some Parliament and the odd dodgy blend. I finish my hour with a divine Marvin Gaye track that I can’t believe I’ve never played on the show before. 
 
Hour 2 is all about my bearded Bradford brother Iry Sabir. Iry’s a regular in the radio show chatrooms that music addicts like me hang out in, and he’s not only a top bloke, but a top DJ too. Iry’s put together a real treat of a mix - an all vinyl extravaganza of smooth, sweet soulful house grooves.

Our 11th Radio Show falls on the same evening of our first sold old event of the year! That Disco Groove at Colours in Hoxton. We are all long overdue and good dance and will be joined by great guests Jay Lee (The Funkdown Show), My Mate Nick and Pete Maxey (The Disco Express).

Looking forward to todays show we see a Bandcamp Beat from Opolopo on GAMM, wax exclusive from Perro Bueno on their edits series and the label focus deservedly goes to Moment Cinetique with their unique style of jazzy house and dusty disco.

Our new releases this week is a tale of two halves. The first part is full of boogie, funk and electro influence from the likes of Ron Basejam, Seaward & Thunberg, Monsieur Van Pratt, Yass, Dr Packer, Disco Feelings and The Owl.  The second half takes a more traditional and soulful approach with releases from Dave Lee, Qwestlife, Young Pulse and Laroye to name just a few!

The exclusive guest mix this week is provided by T Sounds, an up and coming DJ, selector and producer from London who now resides in Liverpool. Tom has a number of upcoming releases on labels such as Ripe Pear, Mango Sounds and theBasement Discos. We are happy to announce that we will be premiering these records ahead of their release dates! T Sounds mix is full of energy and his track selection really shows his depth/versatility of selection and playstyle!
