I've always loved how field recordings can envelope you, take you to new locations. Right now it seems especially helpful to envision other ways of being, without retreating into fantasy, to plunge into other sound worlds, and Paris is an ideal place.

There's something called Paris Syndrome (apparently experienced largely by tourists from Japan) where the shock of arriving in Paris and finding that it doesn't quite cohere with your expectations causes severe anxiety, hallucinations, and/or dizziness. In this audio journey, I wanted to capture some diverse sides of the Paris experience - not quite Paris syndrome and not quite Amélie - to go beyond the stereotypes and make room for everything from the romantic to the utilitarian.
