Sub:Tales Chapter 03 is coming straight from JahYu - one of our favorite producers & live acts!
As an Hamburg local, JahYu is not only a "neighbour" and friend, but has also been a highly valued and steady guest of the Sub:District nights throughout the years.
Apart from his rather dubby live sets living off his own productions, we're celebrating a little premiere with chapter no 3 as JahYu put together one of his really rare DJ sets - 60 min of switching tempi and all sorts of bass music and vibes. An invigorating selection celebrating the freedom and variability of music!

Don't worry - we're not putting the dub vibes on hold though! Kardia's part of Sub:Tales chapter 3 is devoted entirely to the rootical side of bass music, which will teleport you straight in front of a soundsystem on a sunny summer day.

Kicking off 2023, Egregore Collective are back with a second vinyl release on the main label. This time, they're diving deep, spiraling down in a sea of reverberated chords and soothing noises with a 5 track EP aptly named 'Tones and Echoes'.

Jah-Tek presents, track 4,  'Saudrune Dub' from the enigmatic Stefan Dubs. A sonic dive into the deep earthy textures of a rich dub collage, fortified with swirls, air and space, seamlessly dancing around an earthy call & response lead, encased in a rich coloured chamber. True soundsystem flavour and real earth music!

Jim Coles’s fifth instalment of his best-selling ‘Acid Dub Studies’ series arrives in the form of the third set of original works exploring the infectious sound of the 303 bass-line in a dubwise setting. The album takes in traditional dub mixing approaches in a digital and roots/digi-dub style whilst also making space for more electronic and ambient processes to close the project.

‘Acid Dub Studies III’ arrives after 2 years of touring the material in a live setting at festivals and clubs including CTM at Berghain, Les Nuits Sonores, and Andrew Weatherall's Convenanza festival and is the culmination of some 5 years of experimenting with a style that has been met with critical acclaim, reaching far and wide into many a DJ’s box having been noted by some as a truly ground-breaking approach to working with the 303.

Switching within digital binaries, analogue flux, and all forms of degradation in between, a creature is kickstarted to life, as if awoken with locomotion's full might. Helena Hauff delivers a mix for Tresor's Kern series, lashing together a sound world with a potent barrage of industrial dance music.

Scorched-earth missives attract metals and mining chemicals, leaving little in its wake but aggravated and chaotic experiments of lateral hypotheses in acid brine. Like a hyperloop through this labyrinth, this high-velocity future is both beautiful and evil, glinting embers through low-bit fogged-out clusters. 100 metre-high aluminium pylons vibrate, each captivated by their electrified foundations. There is no place for dust to settle on the floor. Where a loose TB-tribalism knocks switches and pounds upward synaptic shocks, life down there is too rapid. Not to be taken lying down, this is the viable path forward without the shackles of turgid passivity. The effect is no less thrilling than crucial, as it presents an essential DJ of our times.

Settling into swift 150bpm groove, Hauff ploughs through shepherd-tone electro, ghetto bumps, and grizzled techno. A new collaborative track with Morah plays a rough game of meter, with Hauff's signature sound clear as ever ripping apart new dimensions with a brutal disorder over deceptive bass synths. The visceral crunch of the present is no more clear than at the halfway point, a threshold in which the breakneck electro falls apart, with the rabid foam of Nasenbluten's ballsy gabber anthem Intellectual Killer. Slowly more room to breathe comes into view, the pace drawn down revealing a strange sense of resolution, with expansive synths hinting at a beckoning euphoria. At this moment, Helena Hauff is clearly in full stride, uniquely melding fragile machinations against anarchic human interventions.
