For the first time, Xylème – also known as 9beats - and Ōtium join forces on the long play format. Deeply inspired by the artist’s trip to Himalaya, The Zanskar Experience is an 8 track journey that coherently settle an ambient atmosphere through subtle techno rhythms.

Xylème worked hand in hand with the Ōtium founders to finalize the handbook’s visuals and music post-production. Through visual projections and randomized collages techniques accomplished by Benoît, the artist’s photo shots took a whole new meaning and dimension in the handbook. As always on Ōtium, the mastering was more a collaborative process between Joseph and Xylème than a disconnected sub-trade work.

Alyssa Auvinen Barrera is a musician and sound engineer who DJs and performs live under the solo alias LDY OSC. She has an EP out on https://soundcloud.com/thebunkerny, an EP coming up with https://soundcloud.com/squirrels-on-film and a mini album due this fall via https://soundcloud.com/kontramusik. Alyssa is also in a band called Artefactos de Dolor (https://soundcloud.com/helic_al); they have a double LP out on March 29th. Currently based in Vienna, she was born on the border of Mexico and grew up in Laredo, Texas. Recorded live at Good Room Brooklyn, her rhythmic and carefully considered GhostlyCast entry illustrates the often overlooked art of warming up the club. She adds, “I started at about 100 bpm and moved up to about 123 bpm. Warming up main rooms can be challenging since people are just arriving, having their first drink, trying to let their day go and settle into the dance floor. It’s important to keep in mind that your job is to leave the floor ready for the headliner. It’s not about getting hands in the air, rather getting people to simply relax into the environment.”

newa's new wonderful track hedgehog inspires us deeply - the result: some outstanding remixes. Each remixer kept the beautiful mood alive that newa created in her original version while giving it its own particular touch. a really groovy, subtle and hypnotic tune from esko, a huge version that feels like absolute freedom from martin nonstatic, and a deep ambient and visionary remix by frank sebastian. In combination, we cover nearly every obvious direction. keep in mind: 50% of our earnings go to sea shepheard. so buy our release and help us help. 

Some introductory words from newa: 

subspiele: Looking at your latest release on subspiele, one must admit that you always find very special names for your tracks! How did you come up with the name "hedgehog" ? 
newa: i call my tracks what it feels like... when i was a kid i loved that old russian cartoon "hedgehog in the fog", when i've finished the track i found that i had similar emotions which i had during watching this cartoon in the childhood, so i wanted to call it hedgehog. 

subspiele: how did you record these wonderful sounds? did you use specific synths or anything else? 
newa: i recorded some live loops, i didn't use specific synths i just listened what sound fit together in my mind. 

subspiele: what is your next project? 
newa: i'll wait for the inspiration. i don't plan. 

subspiele: how do you feel now? 
newa: i feel very nice to be a part of subspiele family and really honored that amazing artists have made great remixes of hedgehog. just looking forward to the release. 

subspiele: what are you dreaming of? 
newa: dreaming of having lots of sounds to experiment with and possibilities.
