Here is a preview of the upcoming Estroe album which will be released the 14th of November.

This is what Estroe has to say about her album:

It's been 3 years since I released my first album. A lot has happened since and I felt it was the right time for a new release.
It’s a combination of tracks I made during the past 3 years and new material. While selecting the tracks I paid special attention to the combination of home-listening tracks as well as dance floor. As you might conclude when you listen; I still value peace and quiet in my music as well as atmosphere with melodies and lush effects. With the dance floor orientated tracks I go for subtle build ups rather then distorted sounds. I produce what I would like to listen and dance to myself. It gives me peace, comfort and energy.
I named the album Comfort and Closure. Comfort as in comfortable but also as in solace. A large amount of tracks (especially the moody ones) were created in a time with difficulties in my life, maybe the most difficult time ever for me. I found a lot of comfort and distraction in producing these tracks. Closure - because this time has finally come to an end and I am ready for a new phase in my life.

So the album is a reflection of the past 3 years and the start of a new beginning. Comfort and Closure as well because the track listing is organised from comfortable (quiet and subtle) to the more energetic end: Closure. The build up of the album is identical as how I would start my set at the beginning of the evening to get people on the dance floor.”

The Spectral iteration of the Ghostly 15 mixes comes courtesy of Derek Plaslaiko (who recently completed a grueling 12 hour Boiler Room out of his home in Berlin: http://boilerroom.tv/recording/derek-plaslaiko-12-hour-set/). Some words from Plaslaiko on the emergence of Spectral Sound & the mix he has curated below:

"I met Sam Valenti IV in the later years of the 90's just after he started the Ghostly International label. I feel like I almost instantly connected with Ghostly due to the music, but also because of the asthetic. Sam & I had more than a couple conversations about labels like Factory and 4AD and how the art was synonymously as important as the music it accompanied. I couldn't agree with him more!

As Ghostly grew, I think Sam realized that the more dancefloor-oriented music should almost have it's own place. Enter Spectral Sound.

Spectral Sound often gets confused as Ghostly. For instance, I am considered a Spectral Sound DJ, yet there are plenty of times that promoters end up simply putting Ghostly International next to my name. This doesn't offend me or anything, but the labels are quite different, and equally as important in my eyes. Spectral went on to help pave the way for what would end up being the "minimal" sound embraced first in Berlin, and then the rest of the world. However, I wouldn't just pin Spectral down as a "minimal" label. I feel Spectral (as well as Ghostly) is a great example of a dance music oriented label putting out music they like regardless of what genre it falls under. House, Acid House, Deep House, Tech House, Hard Techno, Deep Techno, Minimal Techno... you can find all of this and a lot more within Spectral's vast catalog.

So, Sam has asked me to pick 15 of my favorite Spectral Sound tracks and I gotta say... this list is a really hard one to make! How do I chose only 15 cuts of this incredible catalog? And even if I did, how much of it would be occupied by tracks produced by Matthew, Tadd and Todd? To pick 15 favorites from just those 3 artists alone would be a difficult challenge, as they are easily 3 of my favorite producers of dance music out there! So, I tried to limit my picks of them to each of their project names.

I had been asked to to the mix compilation that accompanied the Spectral Sound Vol 2 compilation that came out in 2008. So, there are MANY of my favorite Spectral cuts on there (you can find it on Spotify). I mention this only because there are a few repeats in this list, but I just couldn't help myself because I still play those tracks to this day.

Ahead of the work we are doing with Detroit veteran Craig Gonzalez this year, here is a mix he’s done exploring new rhythms and soundscapes. We thought it would be prudent to share a mix of one of his many fresh perspectives, where he explores something we at IT find very compelling — new juxtapositions of polyrhythms and drum and bass within a deeply hypnotic techno context. 

"I’ve really been enjoying exploring the sonic space between techno and drum and bass. What excites me about this fusion is how it challenges both myself and fans of these genres, as it often defies the expectations of each. The introduction of polyrhythms takes it even further, pushing the boundaries and making the music feel truly genre-agnostic. In this space, the emphasis shifts away from traditional structures, focusing more on rhythm and context than on genre conventions.

This mix is a studio recording rather than a live set from an IT event because I feel that this style of music requires a more intentional approach to the context of an event. It hasn’t quite aligned with the atmosphere of my time slots—at least, not for now." — Craig Gonzalez @craig-gonzalez

Human Chorus 18 - Will Samson [Ghostly International Special]

Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.
