The guys from BBNG asked me to reinterpret their track "Signal from the Noise" from their new album. And because I don't let myself be asked twice by a damn good band like this I put the synth on my piano, pushed the record button and followed the flow of the great idea to interpret a song before it was even released.

Cleaning my hard drive, I re-discovered this unreleased EP.
Schneesturm was pretty much the spiritual successor to "Sleeping On An Igloo". Made in the same kind of environment (laptop + headphones + house in the middle of a snowstorm).
Arpeggios is...pretty much straightforward. It was a tool track used for Live P.A. around 2011-2012. Still very fun to play with though.
The EP was cancelled unfortunately.

Containing five synthesiser-led pieces, ‘Loon’ was recorded in autumn 2014 across five days at Nils’s Durton Studio in Berlin, and continues on from the ambient sounds of ‘Stare’ but with the addition of more percussive elements and dub influences. For this new EP the duo wired an Oberheim 4 Voice and a Korg PS3100 to the mixing desk and performed live takes on both instruments. With all four hands on its pots, all mixes were recorded straight onto 2-track ½-inch tape.

Like on ‘Stare’, their first collaborative affair in 2012, they simply followed what was laying in front of them, and this time they were driven by some new synths, a kick drum and tape effects. Indulging in dub, the tracks where all performed rather than engineered, with Ólafur riding a few elements on faders and Nils bringing effects in and out. After running several mixes, they went for the five strongest moments from this session. The release was announced on a joint website www.arnaldsfrahm.com together with the launch of an intimate 45-minute studio film titled ‘Trance Frendz’, featuring another seven improvisations.

“When I was young I was smuggled to Goa parties by my brother. The music played there in the late nineties had a somewhat deep effect on me. ‘Loon’ is almost a blurry memory of these times. In other words, it is what I’d like to remember that music sounded like back then. In fact it sounded probably really cheesy.” – Nils Frahm

In the care of Jónsi, Mary Lattimore’s Hundreds of Days opener “It Feels Like Floating” suspends further. Plucks of harp dissolve as washes of synth glisten softly at the surface; its runtime stretches to 23 minutes, its ending sequence now isolated, acting as a bridge between his piece and the original. The Sigur Rós singer’s unmistakable voice appears briefly, enraptured by the circuitous current of this quiet organ hymn. #SCFirst

Two countries, two cities, one river. The Oder River not only separates the German city of Frankfurt from Slubice in Poland, it separates two different worlds from each other. Whether rich or poor, people try to seek their fortune there – but often only find their limits.

Hans-Christian-Schmid („Nach fünf im Urwald“, „23“, Crazy“), one of the most successful and exciting young German directors, made a moving film with an impressive ensemble, telling emotional, deeply human stories, subtle and moving, tough and yet full of poetry.

Notwist composed the music for this film, based on a pianoloop and minimal electronics, and recorded it with participation of Sebastian Hess (cello) and Saam Schlamminger (zarb). For the twelve-inch release the piece was remixed by Martin Gretschmann aka Console.
