The clocks have gone back, the trees are undressing and it got cold! No better way to distract yourself than burying yourself in new music now that Summer's officially over.

Starting with the glitched out beauty of Telefon Tel Aviv we've got all your bases covered this month. New material from the likes of emerging London artists Kinder, Laura Misch and Boxed In, who delivers with  'Full Circle' collaborator and all round master George Fitzgerald on remix duties.

From further afield we introduce some D'angelo vibes from Fortunes and yet more interesting and progressive hip hop featuring current high risers Noname
and Saba.

We also have cuts from Letherette, Throwing Snow, Lone and some inspired Drum & Bass from some of the most interesting artists the genre has to offer, Frederic Robinson and Kimyan Law. As well as a foray into breakbeat from none other Max Cooper.

That doesn't cover it all, but lets just say it's worth the listen, oh and Four Tet absolutely kills it on an inspired Mura Masa remix!

At some point in 2013, Friendly Fires, Andrew Weatherall and Timothy J Fairplay (aka The Asphodells), convened in an east London pub to discuss collaborating on new music together. The plan was to produce music that came from a place outside of their respective usual musical styles - a loose, open-ended process embarked upon for the pure joy of experimentation and collaboration rather than a specific end goal.

The collaboration came on the back of two hugely successful Friendly Fires albums – 2008’s debut Friendly Fires and 2011’s follow up Pala – and an acclaimed debut album from The Asphodells in 2013’s Ruled By Passion Destroyed By Lust, the latest in a long line of classic releases from Andrew Weatherall’s own Rotters Golf Club label.

Recording took place between Weatherall’s Shoreditch studio, The Bunker, and Friendly Fires frontman Ed Macfarlane’s basement studio just a short stroll down the road in Farringdon, using a desk that once belonged to influential German producer Konrad ‘Conny’ Plank to mix the tracks.

The result is ‘Before Your Eyes’ and ‘Velo’ - two brand new tracks that take close to ten minutes each to reveal their full hypnotic glory. The tracks will be released as a AA-sided single on 12” and download and will be the inaugural release on Friendly Fires’ own Telophase label.

Mantra Sessions: A Fractalization

Recorded sound is the first step to time travel. Recording technology is the time machine. Modern magic. We have a new opportunity as humans to experience this busy time in history as a sonic reflection. Recording artists have a new niche: the sonic curation of international expression.

Mantra Sessions is an experience into the fractalization of the sonically possible. Dive into this music, its story, and your mind will flash brightly.

A history of Swedish musicians. Their travels to India. An absorption of foreign simplicity. A new creation from ancient materials. The recycling of musical friendships over decades. The power of dub to forever recreate. It’s all here. The Mantra Sessions will be something to study. An aid to the ancient practice of finding focus through letting go.

Mantra Sessions was created by Bosse Skoglund and ZilverZurf. I knew nothing of these men and their project before I was asked by Rootfire to learn. What a beautiful education. They represent drum and bass of Sweden. Not the musical genre, but the actual players of the instruments. Mantra Sessions will be released in 2016 as Bosse Skoglund celebrates his 80th birthday. Everything about this story is intriguing. A global experience that, as a musician, I hope to have myself one day.

I put on my headphones. I know music, and now I know ZilverZurf and Bosse Skoglund. Strip away the particulars; Mantra Sessions is a jam. It took place over time. Possibly millennia. Yet it couldn’t exist in this way until today. Mantra Sessions will be remembered as a preservation of this beautiful synergy technology has granted artists access to.

I couldn’t think of a project more fitting to accompany one in the art of life. Be it yoga, drinking tea, smoking herbs, cooking breakfast, making babies, or letting your mind gently drift, Mantra Sessions will guide.

Now is the time for you to listen.

Hailing from Dallas, Chris Lund aka Left/Right is an industry veteran with more than 15 years working as DJ, producer and promoter, with support for his music from a diverse range of artists including The Crystal Method, Massive Attack, My Nu Leng and Zed’s Dead. On ‘Lies’ he teams up with jACQ, a vocalist who has released music on some of the world’s largest and successful dance labels under various aliases, and has ghostwritten for a number of Grammy-winning and platinum-selling artists.

Dieses Mal durften die Britin @justhermusic und Brian Suarez alias @allies For Everyone eine gemeinsame EP konzipieren, die mit zwei Tracks bestückt ist. Just Her & Allies For Everyone - Back To The Source (Marc DePulse Remix)

UK duo Mark Caramelli and Paul Hargreaves AKA Death On The Balcony make their return to budding imprint All Day I Dream this month, treating dreamers to a splendid four track release. The record follows on from the killer 'Lingala' from label boss Lee Burridge and collaborator Lost Desert, which set charts alight in recent weeks. The rising outfit now hosts an intricate and eclectic ensemble of cuts from Death On The Balcony, including ‘Tides Of Fortune' - a tune, which has been causing much ado since 2015.

We're very excited to present Caramelli's solo creation '1,700 Miles' in full premiere today to When We Dip readers. The B-side on the release offers up a spectacular near ten minute epic, which fuses a thumpin' kick drum with a collection of spicy melodic touches and fluttering perc elements.
