Raised in Corona Queens, Creature has been a fixture on NYC’s fierce independent music scene for some time. His first record was produced by the Beatnuts, and through the course of his career, he’s recorded with MF DOOM, Prefuse 73, Cannibal Ox, Slug of Atmosphere, Mike Ladd and countless others.
His latest solo project Torn Together was produced primarily by Preservation (Ka, Yasiin Bey) and features a number of guests including Vordul Mega of Cannibal Ox, Kool A.D. and Homeboy Sandman.
El Pres Beats is a Dutch Hip Hop producer currently living in London. In the last 4 years he released 2 vinyl records: El Pres – Glenwood Hostel EP (2011, Bedbug Records) and the instrumental album El Pres Beats – Fly Dutchman (2014, Robsoul Jazz). He has done collaborations with Creature, Nutso, Starvin B, Deejay Irie and many more

When I heard Desiree Dawsons song Hey Brother and the positive messaged it contained, I instantly had the idea to do a Hip Hop / Trip Hop type of re mix, and I knew I wanted N.Y.C. Rap legend Creature A.K.A. Siddiq O Booker (Rebelmatic) to be featured on the track! So I worked up a skeleton beat and looped my chorus idea of Desiree's vocals and sent it to Creature, when he said he was in, it was on! Creating what was a flash of an idea in my mind to what became the final remix was a journey for me as a musician / producer / mixer. I was working with Creature from abroad, him in NYC and me in Amsterdam, so I set up a studio session at Coop Studios in Oceanside L.I. with Chris Laybourne were I new Creatures verses would be recorded properly, And while waiting for his lyrics I worked up a few beat ideas, that ranged from Hardcore Boom Bap to Ska. I settled on the more laid back vibe because I felt it was not getting in the way of the vocals and the message of the song, and in the end that was the most important part of the puzzle! Once I realized that the mix fell into place! I had engineer Bent Langerak in Amsterdam do a final tweak on my EQ and levels and add the drops in the 2nd verse and some mastering and that was that, it was done! My vision was complete and I felt like I had done justice in my interpretation of Desiree's song and message. I want to thank Dessiree and Vintage Currency for the opportunity to do this remix and Creature, Chris and Bent for all helping me to realize my vision! And a special shout out to my wife Miriam for never telling me to turn it down! And my son Lennon for dancing and letting me know when it was grooving...
