Come closer and hear my allegory,
Of a man with an enduring story,
Robin of Locksley he was called,
But was known as Robin Hood the outlaw.

In the beautiful forest of Sherwood,
Lived a man brave and good,
Robin Hood was much adored,
Because he robbed the rich and gave to the poor.

With his band of merry men,
And the love of maid Marian,
Robin hatched a daring plan,
To save the shire of Nottingham.

Outsmarted evil again and again,
He refused to be a pawn,
To the machinations of Prince John.

Robin was steadfast and true,
And over time his legend grew,
He stood up for the downtrodden,
And his story will never be forgotten.

Robin fought in the crusades where he warred with bow and blade. 
But, when he returned to his land, a corrupt prince stole his home by command. 

Prince John taxed the small folk heavily and employed a sheriff who was deadly. 
Outraged by this injustice, Robin gathered men to fight for justice.

"They always hit the bullseye."

He entered an archery contest in disguise to win a golden arrow as the prize. The small folk he did entertain when he split an arrow in twain.

After the children's mother died,
Lir took her sister as his bride,
At first Aoife was loving and friendly,
But soon her heart felt envy.

Aoife wanted the children gone,
So she cursed them to live as swans,
The children were then transformed,
Into white and feathery forms.

Hear the swans' song across the sea,
Lilting voices through nine centuries,
Sorrow and storms they withstood,
While mourning their lost childhoods.

Their songs comforted the weary and worn,
So day and night the children performed,
And while the children longed to be free,
They were trapped inside swan bodies.

Aoife was punished for her spite,
But this was poor recompense for their plight,
Her awful curse remained,
So the children faced more years of pain.

But the children of Lir stayed true,
And their love for one another grew,
And while they suffered from their fate,
Their strong sibling bond did not break.

Hear the swans' song across the sea,
Lilting voices through nine centuries,
Sorrow and storms they withstood,
While mourning their lost childhoods.

Their songs comforted the weary and worn,
So day and night the children performed,
And while the children longed to be free,
They were trapped inside swan bodies.

When the pagan gods began to fade,
The children's curse was unmade,
A holy man freed the children of Lir,
Ending their suffering of 900 years.

The children of Lir were free at last,
But so much time had elapsed,
They were withered and aged,
But peacefully went to their grave.
