Rich Blonde

This piece was composed using two instruments: a medieval recorder and an acoustic guitar. My intention was to create a tense atmosphere by starting the piece with a solo recorder and then switching to a guitar, played in the key of A minor. I didn’t want the recorder to re-accompany the guitar, because I wanted to create a silent sequence in the scene, anticipating a menacing sound. I could imagine this piece to be in an opening scene of a western, a war film or a hybrid genre, where we get a shot of an open field or countryside, inspired by a Sergio Leone or Quentin Tarantino film.

For this composition,I drew inspiration from Ennio Morricone, the Italian film composer. He can create different kinds of sonority for each genre. For example, The Good, The Bad and Ugly has many sequences with guitar solos to create a suspenseful tone.
