Gianni Romano: Innovation and Passion in Electronic Music

Gianni Romano is one of the most influential figures in the international music scene—an artist who has successfully combined passion, innovation, and a remarkable ability to adapt to the rapid changes in electronic music. As the founder of Daddy’s Groove and the mastermind behind the Switch project, he has played a pivotal role in the global rise of Afro House, a sound that, thanks to his relentless dedication, has become a worldwide phenomenon.

The Switch project was born in 2014 in Naples, immediately showcasing Gianni Romano’s unique vision. Ten years later, in 2024, Gianni celebrated the project’s anniversary with exclusive events in Ibiza, Beirut, Paris, Istanbul, Milan, and Dubai, further solidifying the global success of this brand that continues to shape the evolution of Afro House worldwide.

Gianni’s contribution to electronic music has been crucial. His 2021 hit “It’s Not Right” achieved massive success, earning three platinum records and two gold records, surpassing 100 million streams. The track was widely supported by music legends such as Black Coffee, Diplo, Vintage Culture, and David Guetta, further cementing his place on the global scene. “It’s Not Right” has been played by virtually every DJ in the world and continues to echo through dance floors today.

His collaborations with international superstars are numerous, ranging from David Guetta, with whom he has shared the stage multiple times, to Axwell and Benny Benassi. Gianni is also known for his official remixes of iconic artists like Cerrone and Whitney Houston, bringing his unique style to legendary tracks. Pete Tong, one of the most influential DJs and hosts on BBC Radio 1, has frequently supported and played Gianni’s tracks in his sets and radio shows, contributing to the global spread of his sound.

In 2024, Gianni released “Thunder”, a track featuring Aura, Emanuele Esposito, and Patricia Zavala. “Thunder” reached #3 on the UK Club Chart, a milestone that demonstrates the impact and appreciation his sound continues to generate worldwide.

The next chapter of his career comes with the highly anticipated “Water” EP, scheduled for January 17, 2025. This EP is the result of a collaboration with Emanuele Esposito, Aüra, and Trick Beat, and will also feature remixes from some of the most respected names in the scene, such as Bun Xapa, Ziddo, Rockin, Moroccin, and Atsou. With this new work, Gianni Romano continues to explore underground sounds, digging even deeper into the essence of Afro House, moving away from fleeting trends and taking his musical vision to a purer, more distinctive level.

At the same time, Gianni is working on his first album, scheduled for release in 2025, which will celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Switch project. The album will include remixes of his most iconic tracks, including a revamped version of “It’s Not Right” by &Friends, following the remix by Moojo, breathing new life into a track that defined an era. The release of this album will be a defining moment in his career—an opportunity to celebrate an artistic journey that has left an indelible mark on high-quality electronic music.

Gianni Romano is also known by his alias, MHE, a name he has adopted to explore new sounds and projects that differ from his main path while still reflecting his unique and innovative style. This alias allows him to experiment with fresh musical ideas and create a sonic universe that is even more eclectic and ever-evolving.
