This weeks Arboreal podcast is mixed by Canary Island born Prakash. He started to DJ while studying at Loughborough University (UK) due to the lack of decent electronic music around the area. He opened up new horizons for people by playing at various clubs bringing the sounds of labels such as Poker Flat, Minus, Cocoon, Mobilee, Trapez, Systematic… Prakash’s sets are always different, depending where and when he is playing will determine the sound of his set, but never lacking of groove. In this mix we see a more upfront and bouncing yet minimal side to Prakash's mixing.

Acutek brings his first solo E.P. on Gibbon with a very direct and twisted up technoid focused journey. No Salt, More Pepper drives from the depths from the very off, leading us into a very spacey and almost psychedelic atmosphere all underpinned by techno roots. 
Chris Johnson follows this up with his very different take that leads us on what initially appears to be a more mellow journey before he unleashes those jet engines of techno at us full throttle, driving energy interspersed with chordal moods, the twisted psychedelia and hints and touches of the original.

Backing these up is AA side, Transport. 
Acutek shows his darker and more introspective side, the bubbling nature of Transport coupled with its serpentine like overtones that carry us along its ever subtly changing steps to the journeys end.
Carl Higson provides the remix for Transport and he changes things up into his own inimitable vibe. A progressive house force is extracted from the tanks of the original and layered wonderfully with acid motion and depth, turning corners you that bring something altogether alive and of its own whilst still conveying the overtones of the original.

Avenue Red welcomes Prakash, an experienced DJ and producer from the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, one of the Canary Islands about 150 kilometres off the northwestern coast of Africa. Prakash is a very knowledgeable guy and has been collecting music and spinning for almost 15 years, along the way releasing stacks of masterful mixtapes and playing at some interesting gigs internationally, as well as at home. He also turned his hand to music production and running his own vinyl label, Travellin Music, where he has featured on the only release to date with a remix from Vancouver tech house legend Jay Tripwire.

Prakash is a true cross-genre DJ, but it's clear to see his strong focus on the 90's/early 2000's tech house sounds from the origin of the genre. He lists among his Music idols: Craig Richards, Terry Francis, Steve Bug, Mike Huckaby, ZIP, Move D, Kerri Chandler, Nathan Coles, Bushwacka! and Silverlining AKA Asad Rizvi. That list makes for a tidy aperitif for what's in store in this presentation, his glowing CD-length mix for Avenue Red.
