To celebrate the launch of our 2017 line-up, and after 3 years and countless requests we are very pleased to finally release the long-lost recording of one of the most memorable sessions ever heard at the Fort.

On the final night of Dimensions 2014, a huge lightning storm broke out. 
Not knowing how long they'd be able to play, the pair decided to share the decks on the Eglo stage while the weather allowed. What followed was over 5 hours of pure musical joy, an epic journey through disco, funk, house, soul, acid house and everything in between in front of a relentless crowd of very wet dancers.

In 2017 we welcome Grace Jones, Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, Moderat, Marcel Dettmann, Floating Points, Cymande, Nina Kraviz, Shuggie Otis, Daphni and 200 more to the Croatian shore.

Floating Points & MCDE at Dimensions Festival 2014 - 31.08.14

I recorded a mix for Mr. Tong's "Essential Mix" radioshow and it will be sent straight into the heart of your ears this Saturday! 👂🏻👂🏼👂🏽👂🏾👂🏿

Really happy to say at least a third of the mix consists of music made or released by friends - a constant inspiration in my life! ❤️

I also wanted to give a bit of context, as I had two inspirations for this mix:

1. The beginning of an Auden poem called "On This Island" 🏝

"Look, stranger, at this island now
The leaping light for your delight discovers,
Stand stable here
And silent be,
That through the channels of the ear
May wander like a river
The swaying sound of the sea." 🌊

2. The mix starts with a song called "White Bird" by June11 and there is a beautiful background story to the song, that stayed with my during all the dreaming i was doing during the recording. 🕊

"White Bird was inspired by the story of the biplane L'Oiseau Blanc, that took off from Paris in 1927 and vanished on its way to New York. The pilots, Charles Nungesser and Francois Coli, were never seen again. Their PL.8-01 sea plane, made of wood and cloth, is thought to have broken upon landing. Nobody knows what really happened. I think L'Oiseau Blanc is still floating somewhere in the endless sky, with its ghosts, doing aerobatics. Maybe their plan was to have no plan, but to gracefully get away from darkness, time, madness, crowds." 🕊

Hunee stopped by Brilliant Corners on a cold Sunday in February for an unannounced six-hour set. Decked out with hanging ferns, floor cushions, an oil lamp and visuals by Cherrystones, the East London spot was even cosier than usual, and Hunee started out playing some of his favourites field recordings and experimental records, before slowly building the dance floor with his collection of music from around the globe.

Axel Boman mix for Très Bien

I wanted to share a live recording that we have listened to multiple times in our home  :) 

Last year we spent some time in Bali at Potato Head (@potatoheadmusic). Alongside my night time gig I asked them if I could play a "sunset set" by the beach. Instead a biblical thunderstorm rolled through and we all huddled under the covers. 
Some records I have played before, some I haven't all of them special to me in some way.

GIDEÖN has a background in music spanning 30 years. In addition to his practice as a recording artist, stage designer, and curator, he is a touring DJ and an avid collector of vinyl. Since his first set of turntables in 1990, GIDEÖN has devoted his life to collecting vinyl from the US, Jamaica, Latin America, Africa, and the UK. He specialises in Northern Soul, Latin, Reggae, Gospel, and Disco rarities. House Music, above all, is his first and greatest love. He has a degree in Music with Visual Practice (BA Hons) and is currently guest Creative Director of Music for London Borough of Culture 2022.

GIDEÖN co-founded, co-created and curates Block9’s festival nightlife institutions at Glastonbury: NYC Downlow, Genosys, Maceo’s, and IICON. GIDEÖN is also resident and co-booker at London’s hottest queer club night Adonis. He is a resident DJ at The Blessed Madonna’s “We Still Believe” and is regular at Berghain’s Panorama Bar, Lab.oratory, and Garten. He was also often invited to play at Kyiv’s ∄ club before the Russian invasion.

As a radio DJ, GIDEÖN has been actively involved in broadcasting for many years now. After cutting his teeth on London’s pirate stations in the late nineties, he has hosted a weekly show on London’s Soho Radio for 3 years. He is a frequent guest on London’s Rinse FM and has recently contributed to BBC Radio One, NTS, The Lot NYC and BBC 6 Music.

GIDEÖN is founder and label boss at HOMO-CENTRIC RECORDS, a label set up to showcase his own productions and to amplify the creative contributions of queer artists working in underground dance music. The label aims to highlight the LGBTQIA+ heritage of House Music and its manifesto states its intent to “re-establish the lines of queer musical tradition at the heart of House Music, lost to AIDS and the recent capitalist desecration of dance music”.

GIDEÖN has been very involved in political activism over the years and is now increasingly focused on organising hybrid cultural-political events partnering music and protest, often under the banner of R3 Soundsystem. Together with Love Music Hate Racism, GIDEÖN has organised major soundsystem interventions on many of the Stop Brexit, Stop Trump, and Anti- Fascism protests in London. He is actively involved with fundraising for several LGBTQIA+, human rights and social justice organisations including AllOut, Prepster, Human Dignity Trust, and Refugee Community Kitchen. Gideon sits on the advisory committee of The Right to Dance, part of War Child’s NGO Network.
R3 Soundsystem is a consortium of DJs, musicians, producers, record labels, festivals, nightclubs, sound systems, activists, and cultural organisations - all united by love of music and the rejection of right-wing nationalist values. R3 stand for: RESIST / REJECT / REVOLT.
