It worked, here's the first mix from my old CD-R archive. Yes, this show was recorded in 1998, all from vinyl. The burned CD still works, well, kind of. I was able to play it, though towards the end it got scratchy, a few digital glitches, but what the heck. It's a piece of history. But insane, to think we played this crazy sound to the masses back then? Absolutely wild, in front of 500 to over 1000 frenzied dancers. Truly unimaginable now. Back to 1998, check it out, does anyone remember?

And here comes another gem from the treasure chest; it was high time to archive my old mixes, which until now were preserved on self-burned CDs, in a new different format. The CD-Rs are practically deteriorating; two CD players couldn't even read this CD anymore. Then, I tried it on an old computer, and that worked. Still, the quality is somewhat lacking, with a few digital glitches inevitable. What can you do? It doesn't get better than this. It remains a document of its time, now already more than 25 years old. Let's get to the Ring My Bell Show. A wild vinyl show from May 1998, it includes many floor fillers from the Groovalistic parties. It starts with slower, darker, wild beats, then a few hefty BigBeats crash in, it gets funky and wild, and in the end, it chills out. What a blast I had. It's hard to imagine we played such wild stuff back then. Have fun with it too.

Who would’ve guessed? Just found another CD with a recorded vinyl DJ mix from '98, yes I’m holding the homemade CD right here. There's a handwritten note in the blank booklet saying the show's is recorded on July 7, 1998 and should called 'Da Real Titanic Soundtrack of Da Groovalistic G.I.D.' — maybe because that was the year everyone was flocking to see the last Titanic movie hit the screens. Looks like I never released or distributed this CD since it’s got no cover. I randomly asked ChatGPT, ‘Hey, can you whip up a cover for me?’ And boom, now the mix is public and even has a cover. So, what's on this mix? It’s quite the dramatic journey, escalating to a finale with two spacey and orchestral Drum & Bass tracks. Couldn’t recognize three tracks at the moment, but you’ve got Tipper, DJ Food, Freestylers, LTJ Bukem, The Green Man, Environmental Science, Ninja Tune, Death in Vegas, and more on there. Anyone else reminiscing about those days?

Sushi Brothers Live @ Groovalistic – Part 2 (04.03.2000)

Alright, here it is – Part 2 of our legendary Sushi Brothers live show, recorded on March 4th, 2000 at the one and only Groovalistic, where 700 party people brought the place to life!

Kawasaki G.I.D. and Em Scratch Kamakura on four turntables and FX, Kabuki Mattes killing it on the drums, Tim-O-Ka shredding the electric guitar, and Yogi Jok En grooving on the organ.

The second half of the set goes in hard – kicking off with some high-energy drum’n’bass, then cooling down into some laid-back, funky midtempo beats.

Honestly, I’m surprised this homemade CD survived 25 years. I was sure it wouldn’t play anymore – Part 1 was basically toast. One disc wouldn’t read at all, and the other had tons of digital glitches. Thankfully, Em Scratch had a working copy of Part 1, though even his version gets glitchy towards the end.

That’s why I’m even more hyped that Part 2 still works! My backups were all dead, but Em’s CD played just fine – shoutout to him for keeping it safe.

Old stuff, but what a time that was. Massive vibes, wild nights, unforgettable energy.

DJ G.I.D., a true pioneer of the electronic music scene in Koblenz / Germany, kicked off the very first Groovalistic Party in 1995, alongside his DJ buddies and friends, M-Pire and Oldcut. Throughout the '90s and '00s, they took over nearly every club in and around Koblenz, showcasing their distinctive blend of Electrofunk, BigBeat, Drum'n'Bass, Jungle, Breakbeat, Downbeat, and Dub. The Groovalistic Party soared in fame beyond the confines of Koblenz, often packing clubs to the brim, sometimes with crowds exceeding 1,000 people – sheer madness! This popularity allowed them to host renowned guests from Germany, Austria, and especially England, including DJs, live bands, and video artists. But the Groovalistic DJs Oldcut, G.I.D., and M-Pire didn't just stay local; they toured across Germany and neighboring countries.

Now at 56, G.I.D. remains a fervent vinyl enthusiast and passionate DJ. Once known for carrying hefty crates of records, he has since embraced digital DJing and amassed a vast collection of digital tracks. Always on the hunt for something new, he has continually broadened his musical tastes: from Downtempo to Global Bass, Electronic Worldbeats, and experimental Bass and Dubstep stuff, whether straightforward or playful – no two sets are ever the same. His sets are versatile, thrilling, and full of variety. We're all eager to see what musical journey he'll take us on next.
