We are over the moon to kick of the 5th year of Introspective Electronics with this compelling mix recorded by our dear friend, an incredible sound artist and DJ ~ Jin [靜] ✨

Born in Taiwan and taking root in London, Jin has developed a strong sensibility to navigate the in betweens of mystery-tinted ambient and techno, often weaving the two to create spaces of reflection and listening and at the same time, somatic stimulation. In her live performances , Jin works with deeply tactile custom made electroacoustic instruments, synthesis and field recordings to concoct detailed and wildly transportive sonic experiences existing in between these two realms. This is a focus that is also mirrored in her DJing 🔮

In this hour-long mix, we are lured into Jin’s enigmatic ambient world ~ gliding through evocative sonic territories that constantly yet patiently expand and contract, introduce tension and offer relief, call us to dive into the vortex of our subconscious and then emerge back into our body.

Our latest Podcast Series chapter comes courtesy of the Melbourne-based musician and label head ~ other joe 🤍

We discovered Joe’s work through the “.jpeg Bushfire Relief” charity compilation released on his inimitable .jpeg Artefacts label back in 2020 and never looked back. The release, as well as the general label curation, exudes uninhibited talent and diversity and this is true for Joe’s own productions too. His blend of jazzy acoustic passages with hazy, oozing electronics, spoken word and field recordings make for incredibly immersive and emotional listening experiences 🫧

Joe’s introspective mix is taking us on a voyage through all his various influences by bringing together electro-acoustic downtempo experiments, jazzed-up electronica and tingly, softly bubbling glitch ambient. All with a sprinkle of gentle euphoria, tender melancholy and just pure bliss ✨

For the third episode of our Truancy Sessions series, we're thrilled to feature New York-based DJ and promoter Andrew Devlin, renowned for his iconic Level parties. Since its inception in 2014, Level has evolved from filling dancefloors in small Bushwick dive bars to becoming a staple of NYC's nightlife scene, with a recent expansion to Miami showing they are still in ascension. Andrew, along with his team of five residents, has cultivated a musical ethos that spans from tasteful record selections to peak-time party curveballs, showcasing his versatility and range as a gifted DJ. His opening set at Sustain Release in 2022 exemplifies this, seamlessly blending Carly Simon, Beck, Portishead, and Chaka Khan with cutting-edge dance music. We knew Andrew would deliver a stellar selection for our Sessions series, and he has certainly exceeded our expectations.
