This mix was created for an exhibition/ installation curated by I-D magazine. Dean Langley and Benny Reardon asked me for an 80’s selection.

There were some CD’s made for friends and family but this is the first time it goes public.

Michael K - 80s Mix for I-D Magazine

This DJ set was streamed to Twitch and Mixcloud Live on September 18 2020 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Hendrix's untimely passing in London on September 18 1970. It contains many examples of his peerless creative genius as a composer, lyricist, arranger, producer and musician. This show also explores his legacy and the many ways in which his groundbreaking approach has molded much of today's popular music. 

None of the perennial crowd favorites like "Purple Haze", "All Along The Watchtower", "Little Wing" or "Hey Joe" were included here, as being a hit parade was not the purpose of this show, rather the opposite in fact.

On a personal note, I can't think of anyone else whose influence has been as profound and indelibly changed the course of my own career. Much respect and eternal love to you, Jimi.
