Returning to the EXC series we bring you an exclusive mix from DROMEK ahead of his release on Moon Rack records. 

Through his affiliation with Intrinzic Music, DROMEK clearly has a penchant for pushing all manner of unique, ambitious beats, and in no place is this clearer than his own productions. Through dense landscapes of drums samples and stabs, DROMEK melds manic with melancholy, while maintaining an unmistakable footwork influence. The first single from his forthcoming release ‘Asbestos Free Cereal’ (Premiering now on Nu Kvlture) perfectly encapsulates the depth and intrigue found in his productions. 

His mix for excess provides an appropriate backdrop to this exciting release, delivering soulful jungle cuts alongside trap, frantic footwork, and hip hop, with his own productions sitting comfortably in between.

Made2Faze is a collaboration between Priyesh Patel aka X-161 from Manchester and Anand Patel aka Rawtrachs from Birmingham. Rawtrachs is also known for running the label Futurepast Zine which was recently featured in July's deadliest cuts by the staff of DJ Mag.

Made2Faze thrives on domestic influences from the time after house and before hardcore, when primitive and atonal sounds were distilled into something new that sounded good at raves and in clubs. 'Track With No Name' by Forgemasters has since made a particular impression on the two producers. This raw yet minimalist energy in mind set the standard for their own uptempo DJ tools that could be used as a quick fix to transition between different genres of music.

As a result 'Return' and 'Skyforce' form the musical parameters between which Made2Faze tracks oscillate and reflect geographical roots of the Bleep Techno North and the Broken Beat South at the same time. This informed transformation of UK rave heritage into current forms of 160 bpm jungle tekno tracks is not just the mission by Made2Faze but also by label colleague Sun People with his recent EP ‘Into The New’ on Defrostatica.

We welcome back our breaks wizard Ekula for his second EP on the label following the excellent 'All Night EP' back in 2020, and here we see a continued evolution of his sound, blurring together breakbeat, dubstep and rave into a deliscous melting pot that makes up his latest effort 'Ravestep 101 EP'.

First up we have the title track that is pretty well explained by said title, with rave stabs and synths driving the song along with breakbeats delicately cut throughout to really push the 140 breaks vibe Ekula is becoming famous for. 'The Owl Song' is more down the dubstep vibe with a clear 2-step beat accompanying the breakbeat and some wicked sampling that really showcase the producers ear for taking something and flipping it in a unique way.

For the remixes we are first of all chuffed to welcome back Charla Green to the label, as she puts her excellent talent to the title track, turning it into an absolutely wicked jungle refix that had us bouncing round In:flux HQ the moment it hit our inbox. The second remix is by our devilsome duo and founders Tik&Borrow, who take 'The Owl Song' and give it a breakbeat makeover, combining their neuro sound design with something altogether different for the pair, channelling synthesis, arps and progressions unlike anything they've incorporated before, something that is a welcome addition to the duos arsenal.
