It's been a deeply sad and emotionally draining week. First, the violent murder of Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte train and then the despicable assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Tonight, we honor Charlie Kirk and invite all of us to pray for his widow, Erika, three-year-old daughter and 1 year old son. Freedom of Speech is under assault. Charlie was simply doing what he has done a thousand times: Sitting in a chair on a college campus in front of a microphone inviting those who disagree with him to have a spirited debate. To think. To reason and to have a dialogue. He had just proclaimed the gospel of Jesus and he was shot. Lord, be with Erika.  Be with all of us.

The violent assassination of Charlie Kirk was caught on camera for the world to see-Then, to witness the utter lack of human decency on the part of friends and family who celebrated this violence, stirs up even more emotion: Anger, sadness, shock. In fact, it was literally 46 years ago almost to the day that Frank pitched a 4 hit-shutout game against the Atlanta Braves to clinch the National League West. We must be willing to listen to each other's hearts and give grace and understanding to their grief. If you are grieving right now, our prayer is that as we roll into the holidays, you know that you're not alone in your grief. In fact, God himself knows grief.
