Reenacting this Korean Genesis, the team merges the Korean tradition and innovation, hoping to find the next direction for the Korean arts and performance.

The Lockdown Sessions is a conceptual instrumental Jazz EP composed and recorded during the covid-19 lockdown in April 2020.

The album reflects the perception of the artist before, during and his hope for the future.

SOHO
This is a song that represents past. A more relaxed and classic Jazz club take on experiencing live music. You can even hear people clapping together before social distancing was even a thing. At the end is noticeable that something happen. It all have been so abrupt. 

WHAT’S GOING ON? (INTERLUDE 1)
This short statement transition us from an unexpected situation to an emotional state. Uncertainty comes to mind.

QUARANTINE
This song represents present, the lockdown state. Fear, sadness, acceptance. Everything into a sensible deep instrumentation form of chords waiting to transcend into emotions. This song really reflects the way I’m feeling (at the moment of writing this) regarding this crazy situation. (By the way, today is easter Sunday. )

WHAT NOW? (INTERLUDE 2)
This interlude is very calming and soothing. I was emotionally tired when I was composing this piece, So I created the music I needed to hear at the moment. An easy and warm transition to the future ahead, the kind of music that tucks you into bed. Tomorrow will be another day.

NOVEMBER
A song that represents change, a new beginning, a future cohesive sound to embrace. November will deliver an immersive experience. We don’t know when and if things will get back to “normal” November is just a dot in the horizon to think about the future. There will always be another November…

Taken from Rival Consoles' forthcoming new album 'Articulation', released on 31 July. 

"This is a song I created late at night, I wanted to make something full of momentum and mood.

The bird song that appears at the beginning of the piece was actually a very late idea in the creating process. My studio is surrounded by a lot of trees and there is always bird song, which I love but normally don’t consider wanting to use in my music. However one day when I was working on the piece, I kept noticing that the birds, were singing perfectly in tune with the song, so much so that it sounded like one of the little melodies that appears at the end of the song. I quickly recorded it on my phone and it just felt right in the music. I think it grounds the song and also plays with the idea that at the beginning of the piece is bird song, and at the end of the piece is a kind of electronic bird song. 

The end is something I have been longing to make for a long time, which is the closest I have gotten to synths coming in and out of picture like choreography, the synths are having a conversation, and it’s very fluid. The mood of the piece to me, is a kind of bittersweet blend of hope and nostalgia." — Ryan Lee West

Articulation (which follows 2018’s Persona) was conceived with a very visual way of thinking, unusual for the London musician and producer. During the writing process Ryan drew structures, shapes and patterns by hand to try and find new ways of thinking about music, giving himself a way to problem-solve away from the computer. The album title references a piece by the avant-garde contemporary composer Györgi Ligeti, though not for its music, but for the non-traditional graphic score that accompanied it.
