DJ Apogee is an award winning Disc Jockey (DJ) and Music Producer based in Vancouver, British Columbia (B.C.). Having reached endless heights of prosperity, his continuous hard work had lead him to secure an award as a leading 2015 ‘Wedding Industry Expert.’ Apogee’s compositions include a variety of unique productions and live performances to popular tracks in the music industry. His trending remixes consist of Bhangra, Bollywood, Hip-Hop, EDM, Trap, House, Dub-step, Old School, Top 40s and many more. Experimenting with heavy bass combined with electronica, acoustic, dhol and so forth; DJ Apogee’s fan base continues to keep growing as he promises to cater to a diverse range of audiences around the globe.
His passion for music organically came to him when he joined a competitive Bhangra team in early high school and was given the torch to create numerous mixes himself to perform all across North America due to his knowledge of music. As his love for this art continued to grow, Gurinder took initiative of this passion and bought himself a new set of turntables to pursue making remixes in his basement. Shortly after, one of the leading DJ companies in North America discovered and recruited him into the team. While studying Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering full-time at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), his career took off in just short of a year as he DJ’d and MC’d countless of live events throughout the Lower Mainland. From there, Gurinder went from performing for over hundreds of people on stage as a dancer to having thousands of people dancing to his beats as DJ Apogee.
Apogee is now a top, eminent DJ in B.C., inevitably setting new bars in the growing music industry throughout Canada. In addition, Apogee specializes in ‘Ready-to-Rumble’ themed dance-off battles by utilizing his excellent MC skills to pump up the crowd as an enjoyable and interactive way between himself and the audience to connect on a profound level. Having a sharp ear for music, he continues to expand his knowledge and work extremely hard while keeping humble to his unique style of production and performance. From spending endless nights to perfect his skills as well as his workmanship, Apogee still craves and has the ambition to learn new tricks to be the best in the industry.
With his biggest influences being Diplo and Bally Sagoo, he is driven to be a role model for other upcoming DJ’s in the industry. This has led him to spin alongside successful names from other parts of the globe that include; Diljit Dosanjh, Dr. Zeus, Mickey Singh, Massari, Malkit Singh, Manj(RDB), Zora Randhawa, Benny Dhaliwal, Sardara Gill, Amrita Virk, Bhupinder Kaur, Fateh Doe and local artists such as Raju Johal, GS Hundal, Jup Gill and many more. In addition to these names, he has spun live at popular fashion shows for top designers in the wedding industry. These include Well Groomed, Crossover Bollywood Se, Armaan DBG, Bombay Couture, Zaira Couture, Vivah Collection, Darpan Gala, Bridal Fashion Week, Sahaara Foundation, High Chai and more. Other events include the downtown club scene at Prive, Bar None, Aura, Gossip, Caprice Nightclub and L.E.D Bar; numerous occasions such as weddings and bridal expositions at top banquet halls; yearly dance formals at Simon Fraser University (SFU), Douglas College, Langara College and Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), as well as popular tournaments and house parties.
With Apogee as one of the only DJ’s in the industry to being recognized in such a short frame of time, he continues to rise above the ladder as he promises to bring only the best to the forefront. As a 90s kid born in Punjab, one of his childhood hobbies was to collect cassettes from his favorite artists and would often take control over the playlist during his family road trips. Moving to Canada, he remained tied to his roots by joining a competitive Bhangra team, which also allowed him to create custom mixes for their performances showcased all over North America.
