Stay By Justin Bieber and the Kid Laroi Piano Version

My aim was to create something disturbing to hear. This piece kind of reminds me of those creepy dolls that keep repeating everything and the more they repeat it, the more freaky it sounds. I used a lot of change in pitch and reverse to make that “satanic” sound. Because for some reason, most things reversed sound satanic. Other than that, I was playing a lot with the effects and found the wahwah quite interesting and decided to set that as my background sound which repeats then stops and repeats again at certain points. Lastly, I used the distortion to create that abrupt squeaky sound in the middle of the piece to minimally startle the listener. What I like about the pause right after the distortion is that you’d think the piece is over but the repetition just comes back again.
The ending is very different from the whole track but its because I want people to know that this piece was originated from a creaking door and the reason behind the continuous creak at the end is that the horror never ends.

The Horror Never Ends

In this track I wanted to do something more rhythmic. I started with creating a beat and added more sounds to it. I repeated it and then used the same sounds to create the first part with a little transposition. Lastly, I wanted to end my piece with a more calm rhythm and mixed some soothing sounds together as well as reversing some and playing with the pitches and speed.

Suspense

I added reverb in the beginning to create the cool effect and weird waves crashing kind of sound. Flanger gave it this rich sounding quality and electronic feel that I was looking for. Chorus added more to the strength of the audio and lastly the equalizer just made everything of audible volume.

Suspense Mastered

I wanted to create a track with instruments I was used to. Therefore, I used an electric guitar for chords, piano for the melody, drums for a beat and bass. I had to do a lot of improv on the piano before actually figuring out where I wanted the musical piece to go. I personally love the piano. It's always great to hear a piano piece or piano incorporated in a piece

Purpose

For our piece, we started by sampling a kick in the Amen break sample, and created a basic rhythm that would be constant throughout. Then, we sampled a crash cymbal, and created a buildup, into a drop that would add to the movement, while the melody came in. Reverb was also added in to this track, order to give it a larger sound compared to the punchier kick. Lastly, we looked for a part that could possibly have a solid pitch for a melody, taking the first snare hit, and adding a resonator to select the pitches, as well as an amp to boost it. Using automation, we used the note knob on the resonator module to select each note for the melody.
