What a Feeling (Russ Danoff Flashdance Extended Instrumental)

Lorsque Vincenzo Bellini s’attèle à une partition inspirée de Roméo et Juliette pour La Fenice de Venise en 1830, il n’a que six semaines pour la composer. Felice Romani, son librettiste attitré depuis son premier succès, Il Pirata, choisit de remonter, par‑delà Shakespeare, aux sources italiennes du mythe. Le drame s’assombrit : la querelle entre les deux familles devient une véritable guerre. Dans le titre même que retient Bellini, les noms de Capulet et de Montaigu éclipsent ceux de Roméo et Juliette, tout comme le conflit empoisonne leur passion. Mais l’opéra ressuscite également une scène que Shakespeare avait omise : lorsque Juliette – que Roméo croyait morte – s’éveille dans la tombe, les deux amants peuvent échanger quelques mots avant de s’endormir à jamais. Le metteur en scène Robert Carsen inscrit le chant de ces vies entremêlées dans l’épure d’un décor éclairé par l’amour ardent. Un amour transcendé par la musique tendre et rêveuse de Bellini.

Young Irish-producer Rebūke continues his rapid ascent to the top with two original productions on Hot Creations, primed and ready for the dancefloor.

Rebūke recalls being worried that Along Came Polly may have been perceived as being “a bit too weird”, but once it caught the attention of Jamie Jones, there was no stopping it. He says that the hype surrounding this EP “is something I’ve never experienced before...and it always get a great reaction”.

On Along Came Polly, Rebūke showcases his innate ability to craft a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. On the B-side, Rolo is a much housier affair, weaving together a bouncier bassline and sultry vocal stab.

The alias of Reuben Keeney, Rebūke, has only been in business for a short while, but his efforts have already proved to be fruitful. He has garnered support from the likes of Nic Fanciulli and released on labels including Saved and DFTD, as well as having a successful club night under his belt, where highly regarded names such as Camelphat, Darius Syrossian, Ejeca and Huxley have all played.

Cette irrépressible liberté, couplée à la nécessité de vivre toujours plus intensément sur le fil du rasoir, la mise en scène de Calixto Bieito en rend compte comme nulle autre. Du personnage de Mérimée, Carmen conserve chez Bieito les contours profondément ibériques et le tempérament de celle qui vit de petits trafics. Mais l’oiseau rebelle est foncièrement de notre époque. Vamp aguicheuse et insoumise, témoin de la brutalité masculine et sociétale, elle roule à grande vitesse, pressée d’exister.
