The latest installment from Roam Recordings comes from the impeccable Belgian producer Cabaret Nocturne who has previous releases on labels such as Beachcoma, My Favorite Robot, Nein, Factor City, and Rotten City. Cabaret Nocturne has been penning fusions of ‘80s pop, dark basslines, and unhinged house beats since the mid-noughties. His new EP for Roam Recordings is a fine addition to his already excellent discography. The title track "Western Ghost" sets the stage for this EP that sounds like it could be from a movie set somewhere in the desert outside of LA which makes it a perfect fit for a West Coast American label. The other original track "Lost Town" brings that idea home with its added guitar and surfer vibe key changes.

The Western Ghost EP also come with two excellent remixes from the likes of Kieran Holden and Damon Jee. Both of these accomplished producers take on one of the originals and deliver their own spin within the theme of this EP. Kieran Holden has a slew of excellent releases on labels such as Tici Taci, Play Pal, My Favorite Robot, Nein, and Rotten City. And Damon Jee also has a prolific discography on labels Blindetonation, Emerald and Doreen, Logical, Discotexas, and Rotten City. Be on the lookout for a solo EP from Damon Jee on Roam Recordings under his alias NOZZ (out later this Fall).

All four tracks on this EP come together to form an incredibly cohesive and easy to play EP from three solid producers that are shaping the sound of today’s dance music.

Just starting, then stopping in the same place. Floating light. “Help.” The recording came through. The dot keeps getting bigger. It engulfs everything and then we double. Refracted through the heart of a star. Suddenly there are two of all of us. Talking in unison. Finishing each other’s sentences. We all remember the same thing. No way to tell who was here before. Or who is new. A copy of every soul. Some of us had visions. One by one, we suddenly start dropping dead. The deceased are jettisoned, but we can’t be sure if it’s the copies dying or the original crew. Then we start hearing the voices. Replacing our own thoughts. Speaking a language we don’t understand. Lovely new words. One by one we submit and give up our bodies. One with the angels. As my lungs collapse in my chest I reach the transmission console.
