UK-based soul titans Mamas Gun are set to share new music for the first time since their massively successful 2018 album, 'Golden Days'. We are delighted to premiere the uplifting Bill Withers tribute, "Looking For Moses".

Written the day Bill Withers passed away, "Looking For Moses" pays righteous homage to the great soul man with Andy Platts’ honeyed vocals bringing apposite warmth to a joyously groovy and beautifully crafted slice of soul.

'Looking For Moses' is due for release as double AA single with "Party For One" via Candelion on January 14th, ahead of full album 'Cure The Jones'.

Written and produced during the pandemic by Mamas Gun frontman Andy Platts with additional intricate soundscaping from drummer Chris Boot, 'Cure The Jones' was recorded direct to tape with an array of analogue gear at Platts’ home studio in just three days, focussing the soulful energy of the band into a coherent gospel-tinged whole.

Today’s premiere is an exclusive preview from the self-titled debut LP of Turkish psych rockers MLDVA & Çınar Timur. 

MLDVA & Çınar Timur's debut LP is an electrifying collection of expertly recorded tracks that radiate energy, deep grooves, and hard-hitting breakbeats—everything you would expect from a classic Turkish sound, conjuring comparisons to Barış Manço, or more recent successors to the “Anadolu Psych” sound, such as Altın Gün or Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek.

MLDVA originated in Krakow, Poland in 2013 as a DJ and production outfit. Their deep appreciation for Greek and Turkish folk and psych-rock music propelled them to transform into a full-fledged band, incorporating instruments like the saz, which is a hallmark of the Turkish sound. In 2015, they welcomed the talented Turkish instrumentalist Çınar Timur, completing the lineup for their debut album.

"Adımız Miskindir Bizim" starts with an enticing fusion of hip hop and funk, until the chord changes ground the song firmly in its Turkish roots. Çınar's microtonal electric guitar introduces recurring motifs that give the song a distinct character. The track also features captivating solo Rhodes action, creating a sense of urgency. The lyrics, originally written by Yunus Emre, criticize destructive values like holding grudges, which hinder love, friendship, and peace among people.

American percussionist and bandleader. 
Born 24 September 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. Nicknamed “Mr. Bongo” for his role in making the instrument popular, almost starting a “bongo craze” as latin rhythms influenced jazz and pop following World War II. Originally a dancer, Costanzo visitied Cuba several times to learn conga playing, before reportedly being the first bongo player to join a jazz band. He played with Stan Kenton (1947–1948), Nat King Cole (1949–1953], Billy May And His Orchestra, Peggy Lee, Perez Prado, Charlie Barnet, Ray Anthony, Xavier Cugat, Frank Sinatra and others. In the 1950s Costanzo formed his own “Exotica” style band. In the early 1960s he was a member of the studio musicians group Surfmen, The. He has continued to play for more than half a century, retiring in 1998 but making a comeback in 2001.
