One Piece - Opening 15 We Go!

This version of the track contains the pitch change to We Go! heard in Episode 1015's ending scene, as opposed to the original album version of the track heard on the Movie 14 (Stampede) album. If you'd prefer a mix that contains the original version of We Go!, I have uploaded that as well.

I do not own One Piece or the soundtrack music. I simply remixed the original version of the songs to match the TV version heard during the Wano Arc, in episode 1015 of the anime, that kicks off the fight against Kaido and Big Mom. One Piece is copyright Eiichiro Oda and the music is originally copyright Kohei Tanaka and/or Shiro HamaguchiI. I also did not create the fan art shown during the video, those images are Copyright their respective artists.

Matches up to the scene in Season 21 Episode 124 (Episode 1015 - "Straw Hat Luffy! The Man Who Will Become the King of the Pirates!") of the anime, starting at time index 20:49 and running until the end of the "To Be Continued" at the end of the episode.

The scene is actually comprised of three (3) separate tracks, all of which were edited and matched up to each other to create a mostly coherent single track, with a couple pauses to insert silence during key parts of the episode's dialogue or suspenseful scenes. 

The first part of the track's original name is "Memory of Brothers" (Kyōdai no omoide/兄弟の思い出), Track 14 off the NEW WORLD album. The second part is "We Are! ~ Stampede Version" (ウィーアー！ ～STAMPEDE Ver.～), Track 5 off the Movie 14 (One Piece: Stampede) soundtrack. They also used an instrumental cut of the last few seconds of "We Go! We Are! ~ Stampede Version" (ウィーゴー！ウィーアー！ ～STAMPEDE Ver.～), track 38 off the Movie 14 (One Piece: Stampede) soundtrack.

This TV remix was quite the jumble, with "Memory of Brothers" being heavily chopped up to fit the flashback scenes. The track then has several seconds of silence before launching abruptly into a shortened version of the Movie 14 (Stampede) version of "We Are!" as Luffy delivers the first ever "Gomu Gomu no Red Roc" to Kaido. But in addition to those two tracks they also used the last few seconds of the track "We Go! We Are!", which normally has vocals, also from the Movie 14 soundtrack. However, they used an instrumental version with none of the sung lyrics from the version found on the retail album. To try and make this TV remix as accurate as possible, I was able to use AI voice removal software to remove the voice from the "We Go! We Are!" track and appended this to the end of the mixed "We Go!" to achieve almost the exact same affect they created in the episode when Luffy declares he will become the King of the Pirates to Kaido and Big Mom as the "To Be Continued" bass pops to end the episode. This was my first experience with AI voice removal software but I think it came out incredibly well and doesn't seem to have affected the underlying track adversely enough to be noticeable!

01. We Are! - One Piece

The second phase theme for Zurvan, in glorious Nintendo Edutainment System sounds. This is not playing on real hardware, but the track itself follows NES restrictions and someone with a lot of free time on their hands could punch this into FamiTracker.

What does NES/Famicom chiptune mean exactly? Using chiptune samples or an analog synth producing some basic waveform does not a chiptune make; while "8-bit sounds" or "chiptune sounds" are quite popular these days, a chiptune is something that is coming out of or would be faithfully reproducible on some specific sound chip. For example, in this case, we'd be talking about the Ricoh 2A03 chip, which used to power the sound of a NTSC NES. Each chip has its own distinct sound, together with their own set of limitations. Then again, part of the fun with chiptunes is making the most out of the limitations you have.

For example, the 2A03 has only two pulse channels, one triangle channel, one noise channel, one DPCM channel, mono output, no polyphony, final destination. On the other hand, having less channels doesn't necessarily mean more limitations - the SID chip in the C64 is pretty amazing in the right hands. SID has only three channel against 2A03's five, but they're much more flexible than what the 2A03 provides and you can get more out of them. NES channels are quite rigid in that they can only output one type of waveform. Compare two tracks with two different chips:

So tl;dr while this is not running on a real NES, this track could be reproduced pretty faithfully on one. :)
