Raised on a diet of equal parts Roulé, Crydamoure, NY boogie and the sample sonics of Madlib and Dilla, KC is not considered a newcomer at Numbers HQ.  He has been moving between Paris, London and Glasgow, guided through late night sessions with Spencer and Jackmaster via multiple studios, two stolen laptops and a heap of Parisian haze.

The main ingredients in Kool Clap's kit are his keen ear for a sample, classic drum boxes, EMU SP-1200's and tweaked out analogue synths - including the presence of the very Korg Trident that provided the bassline to Braxe and Bangalter's Stardust megahit 'Music Sounds Better With You'.

Born in India, raised in Australia, and now roaming between cities in Europe and America, jitwam is an artist who wholly embodies the cultural influences that result from living in such a globalized world. For the release of his third EP titled Purple, the producer has decided to focus on a place near and dear to his heart - Brooklyn, New York.

Currently the location where he spends most of his time, jitwam describes the inspiration behind the record as “heavily influenced by the rhythm of New York. The buses, cars, and trains ...” He then elaborates that “It feels like a night out in NYC, making your way to the club and ending back at the crib at 5 am watching the sunrise.”

If we had to guess where his track Stronger falls on the timeline of a night out, we’d say that it most likely lands around the last call mark - a period in which feelings on the dancefloor are their most euphoric and the night is beginning to wind down just after an unforgettable climax. The reason we say this is that every aspect of this rising club anthem is so positive and uplifting.

From the airy, stringed melodies that loop from beginning to end, to jitwam’s ad-libbed vocals that are as lyrical as they are instrumental, Stronger sends a clear message to its listeners to keep persevering to get all that they want, and all that they need - a message that aligns well with the attitudes of those who choose to work and live in the Big Apple.

German Jazz quintet Fazer (@fazerfazerfazer) readies the release of their latest 12“ "White Sedan" equipped with remixes from Glenn Astro, Hodini, and Werkha.

The original track was built on the "Guaguanco", a traditional latin rhythm that is closely tied to dance. Here, Glenn Astro and Hodini dub it out in a nice and chilled out session that calls to mind early 2000s Downtempo Electronica. The duo previously released an LP on Apollo Records which was essentially a split track list, so this remix is technically their first proper collaborative effort, and the result is promising!

Neroli record founder Volcov returns with the second volume of compilation series ‘From The Archive’ on BBE Music.
It’s been a busy two years for Enrico Crivellaro (Volcov) since the release of ‘From The Archive Vol. 1’. His Neroli label has seen stellar releases from Dego (2000 Black), Lars Bartkuhn, Trinidadian Deep and Alton Miller among others, leading to a hectic schedule of DJ sets across the globe.
In ‘From The Archive Vol. 2’, Volcov’s musical roots are once again evident in a jazzy collection of hidden gems spanning genres and continents. As Volcov puts it: “the spirit and the sound of this album follows the first volume: choosing more songs that i thought were overlooked and deserved more attention. This time, with such a crowded marketplace for reissues and compilation of 70s-80s music, I decided only to focus on songs from the last 10-15 years.”
‘From The Archive Vol. 2’ features several tracks never before released on vinyl, including ‘Afterlife Vol.2’ by ‘Black Renaissance’ composer and Roy Ayers collaborator Harry Whitaker and Ron Trent’s homage to French violin genius Jean-Luc Ponty, ‘Ori Space’. Taking in intimate downtempo soul, extraterrestrial jazz sounds and straight up club music, ‘From The Archive Vol. 2’ paints a vibrant and eclectic musical picture, autographed with a couple of signature edits by Volcov himself.

Following their debut single on Classic Records, and collaborations with legendary Chicago vocalist Peven Everett, and Natalie Maddix of the House Gospel Choir, Girls of the Internet are back with a brand new single.

'Remember My Name' is a collaboration with unsung British Soul diva Linda Muriel. Linda was a founding member of Acid Jazz mainstays Incognito and The Brand New Heavies. At the point both bands were about to blow up, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and incredibly, lost her voice for 2 years. The bands had moved on by the time she recovered and her voice returned, but to this day, she remains a fierce singer and powerful songwriter.

Remixes of the track come from Detroit Deep House royalty, Rick Wade, the devilishly handsome Marcel Vogel, and Lobster Theremin & OR:LA approved Pépe, who turns in a UK Garage flavoured mix.

More singles from Girls of the Internet are scheduled, and work has begun on their debut album. The Girls are hoping to make their live debut very soon.
