“Bypass the Gatekeepers” is part of the Basically Done Original Soundtrack — the official musical companion to Donald E. Pickett’s novel Basically Done and the upcoming Basically Done series/franchise.

This track is a no-permission anthem for creators, builders, and truth-tellers who refuse to wait in lines that were never meant to move. It speaks to anyone who has been told to “pay their dues,” “wait their turn,” or “get approved,” only to realize the gates are guarded not by merit, but by comfort, conformity, and control.

Rooted in Appalachian grit and outlaw independence, the song calls out modern gatekeeping across media, music, business, and politics—systems where access is rationed, voices are filtered, and authenticity is quietly treated like a liability. It exposes how institutions protect themselves first, reward obedience second, and leave real talent stranded outside the walls.

“Bypass the Gatekeepers” reflects the core philosophy of the Basically Done movement: when systems rot, you don’t beg to enter—you build around them. You carve parallel paths. You move forward with integrity, work ethic, and conviction instead of compliance. No endorsements. No blessings. No waiting for permission that was never coming.

This isn’t rebellion for rebellion’s sake. It’s self-determination. It’s choosing motion over approval, creation over validation, and action over endless negotiation. The message is simple and final: if the gate is locked, it was never yours to begin with—so you go another way.

We’re basically done.

Title track from my official debut EP.  Original is the title poem in Dutch, of the volume ‘Dit harnas van kippenvel’ by publishing house ‘kleine Uil’ in 2008. I wrote this poem in reaction to the book ‘The naked writing’ by my then teacher Nirav Christophe which was published in 2003 when I studied ‘Writing for performance’. Hope you like it. Jackie Carson is the youngest of Three children and is from Pittsburgh area in the USA, and she is married and has children of her own, as well as working for the federal government. At a young age Jackie was introduced to music incredibly early from her father’s vast record collection. Jackie’s mother is unfortunately suffering from CTE, and is living in a nursing home, so Jackie is not sure if her mother would even know that she achieved her dream of becoming a known singer / songwriter due to this, but let’s hope so?

Jackie’s time at School was not easy and she has the story that circulates through music a lot, bullying and jealousy. Sadly this also happen to Jackie, but with determination and a strong will Jackie carried on singing and achieved some good things at school with her vocals. She was in the Choir and has done other things, but once again she was badly attacked by other girls for being better than them at singing within the choir.

This did not deter Jackie, and she continued to do what she loved, singing, writing, and you can hear the results when you listen to Jackie Carson's voice!
Jackie has recently been discovered by credited music producer veteran Troy Mitchell AKA Jason Alias who features on ‘I Wanna Dance.’ Troy found Jackie on ‘LinkedIn,’ and when Troy heard Jackie he knew he had found something special, so they have been making great music together, and their latest track 'I Wanna Dance' has had 43,000 plays on Soundcloud and many new fans commenting in just over 2 months, and Jackie’s ‘Soundcloud has a combined play ratio of over 50,000 plays across all songs with Troy's music production. This a good sign of what is to come from them both.

Jackie loves lots of different music from the older sounds of 'Motown Records,' Whitney Houston, Freda Payne, Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5, and she has a huge love for Hip Hop, so her musical ears are open to all great music, and especially the older stuff which inspires her when she writes.
Jackie Carson’s voice and talent has also been picked up by highly respected A&R consultant Scoop (Universal Music, Warner Music, Warner Records, Americas Got Talent etc.) Scoop is working with Jackie Carson and Troy Mitchell and their fantastic music together, as well as teaching Jackie about how the music business works, and helping develop her with Troy.
