CHKLZ.

CHKLZ is project name for music by an artist who gives a real name as only a code: DJO1865.
(A reference to the George Lucas film: THX1138.)
She explains the project name CHKLZ as thus:
"The clown can be seen to represent happiness, through the circus to childrens parties.
Yet also the clown has a dark side, connected to paedophilles, horror films and serial killers.
But often, behind a clowns smiling face can sometimes lurk the face of depression, sadness and misery, the face paint as a mask is worn to hide his sorrows from the world. We all know someone who is a 'clown' or fool in our lifes, but do we really know their true faces?"

CHKLZ musical career began by using a simple Yamaha SU-10 sampler and by sampling beats, sounds and other sources created her own unique soundscapes. Unfortunately those early recordings are lost. Some might say fortunately.

CHKLZ considers her sound unique to herself, yet nods respect and influence to artists such as Brian Eno, James 'Leyland' Kirby (better known as V/VM or THE CARETAKER), kid606 and The Aphex Twin. As well as friends who record under the names: Pattur and Intron B. Her key influences are Acid house, Punk, Ambient & outsider music.

Her current musical set up consists of approx 7 guitars and 6 assorted synths & strange noise making devices.
Her aims for the future? "Simply to make music for myself primarily, if anyone else enjoys it along the way I am pleased. Its that simple."

CHKLZ is currently experimenting collaborations with another local artists: Pattur & Chundar.
