Hello, Abyss

Not all things fade by nature. Some are made to disappear.

Evanescent Frequency mirrors a world where decay is no longer organic but imposed, where lifespans—of objects, ideas, and even sound—are carefully engineered to be short-lived. In nature, resonance lingers, and silence comes gradually. But in an age of programmed obsolescence, disappearance is manufactured, ensuring that what was once essential is discarded before its time.

The music unfolds in this same manufactured cycle. It begins with fragments—small pulses of energy, scattered textures that gradually coalesce, gaining complexity and momentum. Harmonies expand, orchestration thickens, and layers accumulate, reflecting the illusion of permanence and progress.

At its peak, the structure begins to dissolve. But this is not destruction—it is an unraveling, an enforced stillness that overtakes what was once vibrant. The density of sound fades into weightlessness, harmonies drift apart, and resonance becomes ghostly, as if the music itself is slipping away into the unreachable. The frequencies do not end abruptly but instead dissolve into an ethereal quiet, mirroring the way things vanish from use yet never fully disappear.

Evanescent Frequency is a meditation on impermanence, on the forces that decide what is allowed to endure and what is designed to be forgotten. It asks us to listen—to what fades, to what remains, and to the silence left behind.

This is our final track for our album, Windmill, which celebrates each of the eight festivals of the year, and @APi_ZZ has provided a beautiful magical flying carpet of sound to transport us to other realms to celebrate Imbolc, on February 1st, when we give thanks to the triple-faced fertility goddess, Bridie-Brigit-Brid.

When Earth stands cold and hard as iron, 
And the bitter north wind still blows, 
The Dreamer in the Land yawns, and rises 
To stir up the embers of her smithy’s forge, 
In her crystal and copper caves below. 

So let us talk about young Bridie, the Exalted One. 
Her face as luminous as the Moon that sired her, 
And her heart as bright as the yellow aconites 
That rise up smiling to the winter Sun.
While icicles still drip on the cobbled yard 
And the ice on the bird baths has to be cracked 
For the blue tits, starlings and tiny wrens,
Snowdrops spring up at her feet, wherever she treads, 
As Bride makes her way along the frozen tracks.

So let us praise Brigid of the Tuatha da Danaan, 
Beloved of poets, smiths and farmers alike. 
Ewes come into milk at the touch of her hand 
The rivers are once again jostling with pike, 
And even though Jack Frost still comes at night, 
And the tors and hills are white with snow, 
They turn coral at each sunrise and sunset, 
While carpets of crocus and periwinkles glow
As the gems in the rainbow of her necklace,
A covenant that Spring is on its way.

So let us light a candle for Brid at Imbolc, 
The triple-faced, ripe-wombed One, 
And put out offerings of milk in bowls 
To the Sow Mother, to the White Swan.
Her perpetual fire is kept ever aflame
In a shrine, deep in a hawthorn wood 
On these isles that were given her name
For her blooms and beehives, and orchards 
Where we sing to the apples at Wassail, 
In thanks for her bountiful blessings on us.

L'Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI Radio Televisione Italiana diretta da Bruno Maderna esegue: 				

di Arnold Schonberg:   Verklarte Nacht op. 4 (Notte trasfigurata).
Versione riveduta dallo stesso  Schonberg, nel 1943,  per orchestra d'archi. 
Si tratta di un poema sinfonico composto nel 1899 per sestetto d'archi e ispirato all'omonima poesia di Richard Dehmel a sua volta tratta dalla raccolta "Weib und Welt" («Donna e mondo») del 1896 e dello stesso Dehmel. 

I tempi della composizione sono:

Vanno per un boschetto spoglio due creature;
La luna le segue: esse vi affondano lo sguardo.
Muove la luna sopra le alte querce,

Fin dove nere le cime dentate appaiono.
Parla una voce femminile:

Io porto un bimbo che non ti appartiene,
Accanto a te peccatrice cammino.
Contro me stessa ho gravemente peccato.
Non più credevo alla felicità:
Pure, con greve anelito bramavo
Uno scopo, una meta nella vita, ed ecco
Sfrontata mi son fatta, e ho lasciato
Che un estraneo il mio trepido sesso
In un amplesso avvolgesse,
