Maudify is Midwest Emo’s uno reverse card.

This Chicago-based phenomenon manifests in her dynamic ability to create twinkly, fifth-wave emo riffs to hyperpop rap. Through her songwriting, she amplifies themes of betrayal, reflection, and finding a place in the world, while enhancing these through her lens of unapologetic queer rage.

In her track, “Unreal Behind The Wheel,” she illustrates the turbulent nature of being transgender. Her lyricism hones in on the anxieties of navigating the world whilst attempting to keep her head on tight. Abrasive guitars partnered with realist lyricism penetrate the psyche of anyone who’s listening. Her other songs similarly incorporate stories that most have dealt with; while opening a window into someone’s scratchy, half-melted mind to what atrocities they’ve encountered, to better curate an understanding of them as a human.

Her previous time in Arcadia Grey and Cleveland Avenue prepped her for the spotlight. Now exploring her own venture, there’s a re-introduction to who Maudify is, was and will continue to grow into. Playing on words with her name, she modifies what critics classify as “emo” into her genre. Producing fantastically uncommon music, she’s on lock with an infrared pen to carve out a new area in alt-rock for herself and others like her.
